Notre Dame beat writer Pete Sampson is reporting that new LSU coach Brian Kelly is working on bringing defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman with him to Baton Rouge.

Kelly hired Marcus Freeman away from Luke Fickell's staff at Cincinnati this past offseason.

Former LSU coach Ed Orgeron tried to hire Freeman to replace Bo Pelini but was beat out by Kelly and Notre Dame.

Fickell to ND, Freeman back to Cincy.

Would only need him for 3 years, and he would KILL IT recruiting down here. After those 3 years he'll get a HC job either in college or the NFL depending on how elite LSU looks.

I thought freeman went with ND because he was in line as the next ND head coach.

Freeman will be a HC somewhere.

Depends on how the ND opening shakes out but better chance to get Freeman with Kelly than with O.
