Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had some peculiar grading of LSU's 17-10 win over the Tigers last Saturday while addressing the media on Tuesday.
quote:

"It was a hell of a game, down to the last play," Swinney said in his weekly news conference. "Right out of the gate. It's like getting the final exam [on] Day 1 of class. They made a 65; we made a 58. Neither one of us were great."
Later in the day, head coach Brian Kelly pushed back on Dabo's grading:
quote:

"I thought we dominated them in the second half, so he's really a really good grader for giving himself a 58, or he's a really hard grader on us," Kelly said.

"Or he didn't see the second half, which, that might be the case. He might not have wanted to see the second half."
Kelly is not the only one who disagrees with Dabo's comments, as Fox Sports College Football reporter Bruce Feldman chimed in with a grade of "A+" for LSU:

How would you personally grade LSU's performance in the opener? Leave a comment down below.

Dabo: soft in the head just like the team he coached is soft.

I think on the overall game by LSU, I mean a "C+" has to be the floor, right? Beating a top 5 team on the road by any margin, by any measure, even by another top 5 team is a solidly above average grade.

Having said that, LSU did have execution errors, particularly on offense, some playcalling issues, special teams (missed FG, did not pin them with a punt when it was very possible, etc.), sufficient to take them out of the "A+" and maybe even "A" category. If you watched the second half, though, B+ to A- is probably the grade LSU deserves for the effort in the game.

We played a great game and the OL played much better than expected. I'm wondering how good is Clemson really? We will find out how good we are a couple of weeks.

Brian dominated them so hard that they had the ball at midfield down 7 with a minute to go.

It seems not to be something folks are focusing on, but special teams weren't not all that special. B-

I would give LSU a 90, mostly because of their special teams performance. Clemson maybe a 70 at best.

2 fumbles lost isn't an "A plus performance" in my opinion. I give the Defense an A+

First half was not great. Second half was. I'd give them a 85 overall. Solid B. I think we improve and we'll see a team that is good from the opening whistle to the end.

B+ Here is why. Entire new OL and new secondary and a rebuilt DL. All of the new pieces came together fantastic. The fumble by sharp, missed FG and poor decision at the end of the half drops the grade otherwise it would be a A+. This is because it was the first game. Later in the year season this grading will be much tougher.

Oh I will add, Dabo is a fraud, he isn't fooling anyone with his Mayberry act anymore.
