During his podcast this week, LSU great Andrew Whitworth and co-host Ryan Fitzpatrick discussed the firing of Brian Kelly.

A big takeaway from the discussion was Whitworth revealing that Kelly always declined his offers to help the program. Per ProFootballTalk:
quote:

Kelly was fired as LSU head coach this week, and Whitworth said on his podcast that when he would reach out to Kelly with offers to visit the team and mentor the players, Kelly blew him off.

“I don’t know Brian Kelly at all. But what I do know is, I reached out multiple times to say I’d love to help you, and gotten lots of, ‘That’s great, I’ll keep that in mind’ type stuff,” Whitworth said.

Nice of whit to offer however, I doubt there is much he could have actually helped with unless he wanted to actually become a coach.

That’s why he is gone. Turning down help from a future HOF mind. He wanted all of the credit had he won a Championship. He blew a Championship for Jayden Daniels refusing help from LSU legends.

The more that comes out the more I'm glad they parted ways with him. I have a feeling more than just Whitworth offered to help and they got the same answer. How stupid to disassociate the program with the players who care enough to want to help.

"I have a feeling more than just Whitworth offered to help and they got the same answer."

Hester and Flynn both mentioned how much former players had been distanced from the team....and if I understood Hester correctly he said something about he had brought his concern about this so several people in power at LSU

Sounds about right. Yea, cause we don’t need any help on the Offensive Line, right? So glad he’s gone.
