ESPN Names LSU As A Two-Loss Team That Could Still Make The Playoff

LSU's College Football Playoff hopes took another hit Saturday night with a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky, but ESPN's Jake Trotter isn't counting the Tigers out just yet.

In his latest college football takeaways, Trotter pointed to LSU as a two-loss team that still has a chance to make a playoff run.

The Tigers have little room for error moving forward, but with home games against Alabama and Texas still on the schedule, there are plenty of opportunities to get back into the playoff conversation.

Here's what Trotter had to say about LSU:

Which two-loss team has the best chance to rebound and make the CFP?

The odds are against LSU making the playoff following the overtime loss at Kentucky. But the Tigers have the talent and the opportunity to still make a run at a playoff spot.

LSU's remaining schedule includes home games against Alabama and Texas. If LSU runs the table, it will be a lock for the CFP.

However, precedent suggests that three defeats are too many for any team to make the playoff. So LSU likely doesn't have much margin for error, if any.

But two losses on the road against quality opponents shouldn't eliminate the Tigers just yet. Lane Kiffin & Co. could still be heard from in the postseason conversation. -- Jake Trotter
Here's a look at LSU's remaining schedule:

Oct 17 vs. Mississippi State
Oct 24 at Auburn
Nov 7 vs. Alabama
Nov 14 vs. Texas
Nov 21 at Tennessee
Nov 28 at Arkansas

Do you think they can still make the playoffs?

If they beat Alabama and Texas they will be in with 3 losses.

Probably a pipe dream to hope for that. Just go out and win one game at a time.

Yes a mathematical possibility. But we’ve had that all year. Look how much it helped.

I'm reminded of Jim Mora's reaction when asked if the saints could make the playoffs.....PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS? he cried with an incredulous look on his face. lol

I don't see it. I mean if LSU runs the table, sure. But let's be real here...I don't see LSU running the table. Hell, downvote me all you want but I see Mississippi State giving LSU a run for their money. Right now I'd pick MSU and the points over LSU for sure and MSU MIGHT still beat LSU outright.

Not sure if we can be beat anyone on the road except maybe Arkansas. I hope I’m wrong and they get it together.

Why can’t people see Kiffin for what he is. Mediocre coach and outstanding self promoter. Nothing more.

Ahhh LA tech, this explains your comment. Sorry for the belt to arse he gave you. That was weeks ago. Stop crying

Except he had a team at Ole Miss that went to the semis and likely would have won with Kiffin on the sidelines.

Go away bitch.
