College Football Insider Bruce Feldman was on Todd McShay's podcast this week and floated Brian Kelly's name as a possible candidate for Michigan State if the Spartans move on from Jonathan Smith. Per Sporting News:
quote:

“The one job I can see him maybe at is if Michigan State does open up. He’s got a lake house up there. I can see it,” Feldman told Todd McShay.

Smith is 3-7 in his second season and winless in Big Ten play, with Michigan State in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. While the school hasn’t announced a decision, multiple reports indicate administrators have already resolved to make a change after the season.

For Kelly, the Michigan ties run deep. His first significant stop came at Grand Valley State, where he won 118 games and two Division II national titles from 1991-2003. He later guided Central Michigan to a 19-16 record before climbing to Cincinnati, Notre Dame and LSU. In 33 seasons as a head coach, Kelly owns a 297-109-2 record.

Kelly wants 300 career wins so if he finds a decent spot he will take it.

Zero chances Kelly coaches again. And any school would be foolish to hire him after seeing him check out at LSU.

LSU fired him because we had lost 3 games…if that’s “checking out”, then every coach in history has done it. I would imagine he could get a job at Florida or Auburn this afternoon if he wanted to.

That’s the point, he doesn’t want to.

Being linked to a job bc he has a vacation house in the area is hilariously ironic.

I have a fishing camp in So. LA. Guess that makes me a candidate for the LSU job.

Don’t be weird, the connection to the state having lived and coached there makes sense.
We can all hope this happens as LSU fans as this will help with his buyout.

You want news offering potential political and cultural ties that unravel a coaching riddle and give fans information? Or, do you want to be another dumb Tiger "fan"?

Sounds great. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I hope all of his wildest dreams come true. I also hope we pull their souls through their nostrils when we play them.
