Tom Fornelli and the Cover 3 Podcast at CBS Sports crew recently ranked College Football's Top 10 Returning quarterbacks for 2025 and put LSU's Garrett Nussmeier as No. 5.

Clemson's Cade Klubnik, who the Tigers will face in Week 1, was the No. 1 QB on the list.

Here's what they had to say about Nussmeier.
quote:

5. Garrett Nussmeier
LSU Tigers QB

There are two things about Nussmeier I love. The first is his arm. It's an absolute cannon, and I cannot stress enough how important arm strength is if you want to be an elite QB. (Yes, he needs to learn how to harness it better. He also has to make better decisions, but find me the college QB who doesn't.) Second, I love his pocket presence. He's great at manipulating the pocket to avoid sacks and keep plays alive. LSU has had a lot of problems the last two seasons, but few of them have been on the offensive side of the ball. I am still a Nuss Believer.
Complete Top 10:
1. Cade Klubnik (Clemson)
2. Drew Allar (Penn State)
3. Arch Manning (Texas)
4. Carson Beck (Miami)
5. Garrett Nussmeier (LSU)
6. Sawyer Robertson (Baylor)
7. Luke Altmyer (Illinois)
8. LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina)
9. Devon Dampier (New Mexico)
10. DJ Lagway (Florida)

Carson Beck ahead of Nuss on any list makes the list irrelevant

1. Cade Klubnik (Clemson) .... There's some MAJOR incentive, Garrett.

Unfortunately, Manning will be one of those guys.

Klubnik and Allar don’t have to put up with SEC level defenses.

Maybe not Klubnik but Allar has to deal with ohio state and Michigan which are top 10 if not top 5 defenses. Add in Oregon too who has a great D as well.

Arch Manning at 3 is hysterical

2 of the top 4 are not that good, 1 is talented but unproven. I agree with # 1. I like where we are going into 2025.

This list is trash.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense. Nuss outperformed basically every QB on that list LAST YEAR. With a bette offense & potentially a mich better WR group why wouldn’t Nuss outperform them all again next season??

Trash uniform in that pic.

Manning 3 in the COUNTRY??? He's unproven (name only)... shouldn't even be sniffing the top 10 until proven otherwise.

Many lists have him at #1 unfortunately at least the ones I seen. I was shocked Klubnik and Allar were ahead of them. Yes they’re both very experienced more than Arch but they’re kinda average in my opinion.

We’ve all said Arch Manning is a 3 star quarterback without his name. Is this some kind of NIL list?

Nuss has slow feet so he better have practiced moving around the pocket and increased his speed to drop back to pass. and release the pass sooner. Someone I don't see on the top 10 that should be there is the NEB. QB he works out with Mahomes in the off season.

what in the fug has manning done to be a top returning qb…

Nuss has to prove it in the big games vs good teams. He looked great against non Bama, Ole Miss, TAMU, Florida. I hope he makes the same step up as Burrow and Jayden, and part of the heisman odds may be them expecting it, but he has to step it up against great teams and on the road.

Not sure you caught how the middle of the line was blocking in the second half of A&M after our LG went down, when we already had a poor performing center. It was a jail break. The Alabama game was a jail break as well....and against Florida we were out both starting guards and the same Center. OM he literally won the game. You guys see what you want to see, and make excuses for those you like, and don't for those you don't like....not one single mention out of you about the performance of the middle of the OL in those losses....he was literally running for his life every snap, immediately.
