Multiple sources are reporting that Brian Kelly is expected to hire former LSU star defensive tackle Kyle Williams as the Tigers' new defensive line coach.

Williams was most recently serving as the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, Ruston High School, where he began his coaching career in 2020. He will replace Bo Davis, who recently took a job with the New Orleans Saints.

Williams played at LSU from 2002 to 2005, appearing in 46 games with 33 starts, and was the starting defensive tackle on the 2003 National Championship team.

The Ruston native was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round of the 2006 NFL Draft and played with the franchise from 2006 to 2018. He was a Second-team All-Pro in 2010 and a six-time Pro Bowler.

A guy who earned $58,228,000 playing DLine in the NFL, volunteers to coach his old Louisiana high school football team, helped LSU win a National Championship, should be coaching LSU defensive line.

I’m not going to pretend like I have any idea what kind of d of coach he will be, but just bringing back one of the best defensive tackles we’ve ever had is enough to get me excited to have him.

Ok, young men. You have a 6 time pro-bowler to learn from. As a side note, he must really want to be at LSU, he does not need the money.

All I know is when Marcus Spears was getting bouquets, all he did was deflect and talk about how Kyle Williams “can play this game.”

Considering the timing and what we’ve seen Kyle do on and off the field, this is a hire I’m good with until proven otherwise.

This is a great hire for a position coach. Alumni and Pro Bowler who played 13 years in NFL. You know he knows technique. Instant credibility and still young enough to relate to a 20 year old. Great hire.

Love the hire! He got the knowledge and work ethic to make LSU's defensive line one of the best! I think the players will love him.

Great news. IMO he’s one of, if not the most underrated D-Linemen to come out of LSU.

He’s a leader of men as they say. I’ve seen him in action. And his heart and passion are huge. His guys will run through a brick wall for him. We will miss him in Ruston

No brainer. For 12 years he was one of the best DL players in the world. If he did it he can teach it. He knows what a DLine DAWG is. He is one.

If anyone can reach the finer points if how to play nose tackle, it’s Kyle Williams. Love the hire. I would have liked Al Davis too but Williams was far and away my top choice.

Sweet baby Jesus thank you! Want to talk about skins on the wall for receipts to see? How about a 13 year NFL career all with the same team with 6 of those seasons being in the pro bowl.

Why? When we got one of the best o-line coaches and recruiters in the fricking world in Brad Davis, make it make sense.

you have to be joking. Our oline is way belows average. One really good OT and the rest are average at best. Recruiting would improve 10fold with KM in the living room with HoF credentials.

@King Nola - not taking away from the current coach. I love the coach we have. I just meant for the next time the OL Coach position opens.
