Five-star cornerback Kade Phillips has flipped his commitment from LSU to Texas right before signing day.

The 6-1, 180-pound prospect from Missouri City, Texas, was initially committed to the Longhorns but flipped to LSU in August. Now, he's staying in the Lone Star State.

Phillips' flip leaves LSU with 24 commitments heading into signing day. His departure makes signing five-star Florida cornerback DJ Pickett critical for the coaching staff.

The Tigers also have four-star CB Aidan Anding from Ruston, La., who will be signing on Wednesday.

Stop whining. Saban, Kirby, even Ted Cruz tried to get this headed off before it started and were told to sit down and shut up. They did. We were told back in the spring everything was fine, they were just whining that they wouldn't get ALL the players. Well, They have all washed their hands of fighting it now. Next time maybe folks won't let their pettiness get in the way and get behind people that are actually trying to.help.

"Committed"

Laughable.

This entire system is wack. I already hated recruiting, but this has made it unbearable. I will just wait until the season starts to learn about what players are actually on the team.

Committed doesn't have much merit these days does it?

Welcome to college football NIL era:
In: 18 year old millionaires that can barely read or write in correct English. Kids growing up and learn to go for the money…. It is entirely about self. Me me me or I am portal bound.
Out: tradition, education as prep for life, loyalty to a school….best to see who reports to fall camp to see who really is going to be on the team. Sad…. NCAA is now AAA league

Well then they are idiots because it’s not hard to show that LSU’s DBs in the NFL have made much more money than any other school in the country. If they want to make a quick buck thats on them. It’s not like they wouldn’t have been rich at LSU. It’s that they can make a few hundred thousand more at another school but then very well could lose money in the future on draft day. To me it’s an insane decision to make. These kids parents are just as dumb as they are apparently.

Plain and simple these kids are being bought and we don’t have the money at LSU.

Maybe it's time to abandon the term "commitment" in favor of "current fidelity".

There needs to be a salary cap, and all NIL money funnels through the university. No individual outside of the university can pay a kid directly. This is the only way to move forward. College sports is gone if this doesn't happen.

You can't do it. If I wanna pay a player $10M to do a commercial for my chicken joint...that's my biz. Just like pro athletes or Olympians doing commercials. You can't outlaw that.

Feels good to have won the last national title that means anything. Between billionaires buying players for their renta-whore's favorite team and sports betting/playoff incentives leading to PP7-vs-Bama-09 levels of cheating, this sport is dead and buried.

Let's just get it out in the open...NCAA-eBay. Schools bid for each player on a big board. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
