LSU freshman guard Tremont Waters has reportedly entered his name into the NBA’s early entrant list but has not hired an agent. Players who do not sign with an agent have until June 11 to return to school.

LSU guard Brandon Sampson previously announced that he will enter the NBA Draft and has signed with an agent.

he hasn’t hired an agent morons. He’s probably just getting scouts’ opinions on what he needs to work on

Maybe.... or he's trying to get drafted, which is quite possible.

If he gets a high enough grade than why wouldn't he? Until he hires an agent there is nothing to see here.

Smart move. Should help him evaluate his strengths and weaknesses ao he can continue to improve.

Hope this has the effect that Brandon Bass going. He will get to compete against some really good players and gauge where he needs to improve on. He has the skills, just has to get much stronger. The physical punishment he took caused him to be inconsistent last year

Waters is in a tough spot. Some blue chip talent will keep him from being options 1-3 for this team next year. He did falter down the stretch though and doesn’t really have NBA ready explosiveness or body type. His best bet is “probably” to come back to school and show he can be a floor general who can get buckets when needed instead of a ball dominant combo guard. I get it either way though.

He’s getting a professional grade by doing this. He’ll come back next season and have even better numbers not simple because he’s improved but because he’ll have less stress and less physical fatigue because he won’t have to carry the team.

You can't blame him. Anyone who thinks it is "wrong", ask yourself. If you are in college and after your first year, you could leave and start working making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year at a job doing what you love, would you stay in school or take the job?

With that said, he will likely be back next year and with the studs coming in, he could be even better.. And he will know what he has to work on for the next level.

How does the average fan feel he can properly assess a players readyness for the NBA

a case could be made for Waters, either way.... had a surprisingly good season, lots of upside, and depth could be a concern next year, so capitalize on the year you had and go pro.... conversely, he's not physically ready, has only a small sample size, and could benefit from another year...

I understand the chance to make money, but what happened to B.B. players wanting a championship? It’s like they jump ship asap when the $ is being waved in their face. He really has a chance to be elite next year with the talent coming in. So instead of delaying gratification he is willing to be a second round pick instead of being a top 10 pick next year? Hope he changes his mind. We need him as much as he needs us....

Lol. He’ll never be a top 10 pick with his height.

Right because being under 6 foot never works out. Ever hear of either Isaiah Thomas, Muggsy Bogue’s , spud webb,Aaron brooks and Jameer Nelson?

If you're going to pretend to be a basketball fan, at least educate yourself. There's no harm unless he signs with an agent. He's going to get graded, get feedback, and more than likely return to school knowing what he needs to do to better his game. Literally hundreds of kids are doing this.

Puff is spot on... and as an aside can we try to realize that these guys read these boards and treat them with some respect instead of blindly posting with an emotion anything even seems to not go in the way of our selfish desires? And in this case, heavy emphasis on SEEMS
