LSU landed one of the biggest prizes in the college baseball transfer portal on Tuesday, securing a commitment from former Notre Dame outfielder Bino Watters.

Watters, a 6-2, 215-pound left-handed hitter, is coming off a standout sophomore season with the Fighting Irish. In 2026, he hit .362 with 10 home runs, 18 doubles, 51 RBIs and a 1.057 OPS, earning First Team All-ACC honors. He also showed excellent plate discipline, striking out just 37 times in 218 at-bats.

For LSU, Watters checks several important boxes. The Tigers were searching for more left-handed power and experienced outfield help heading into the 2027 season. Watters has experience playing both corner outfield spots and immediately projects as one of the premier bats in Jay Johnson's lineup. His addition gives LSU another proven run producer to pair with returning offensive pieces.

Watters was the No. 1 player in the portal, according to Baseball America’s rankings, and picked the Tigers over Texas and Texas A&M.

Watters is LSU's third commitment from the transfer portal, joining Gonzaga pitcher Landon Hood and Texas State baseball infielder Dawson Park.

All about money right? The guy was obviously developing at ND. With his numbers he was going to get drafted. Don’t understand this generations lack of commitment and loyalty.

Do you go to work for loyalty or money?
