Coastal Carolina Athletic Director Chance Miller released a statement on Sunday evening to call out the NCAA for the ejections of head coach Kevin Schnall and assistant coach Matt Schilling in the College World Series:
quote:

"The ejections of head coach Kevin Schnall and assistant coach Matt Schilling in the bottom of the first inning drastically altered the trajectory of a must-win game for our team,” Miller’s statement reads. “These decisions were made with an alarming level of haste, without an attempt at de-escalation, and deprived our student-athletes of the leadership they have relied on throughout a historic postseason run.

“This is not about a single call – it’s about process and professionalism. In the biggest moment of the college baseball season, out program and its student-athletes deserved better. The NCAA must re-evaluate how it trains, assigns and review umpires in championship environments.

“We expect consistency, communication and the same level of excellence from our officials that we demand of our teams. Out players have represented this university, this conference, and college baseball with integrity and heart. They deserved the opportunity to compete for a national championship with their leaders and were denied that opportunity."

"This is not about a single call – it’s about process and professionalism."
Then tell your coach to be more professional.

This is a great point. Guy shows his arse every time he opens his mouth. Literally every single time. Maybe CC should take a look at who they have running the show before they start lecturing everyone on professionalism.

“We expect consistency, communication and the same level of excellence from our officials that we demand of our teams." Why don't you expect that from your head coach?

Every Ump in Omaha knew about Schnall and his antics, and what happened shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone, except the CC AD living in denial.

At first I thought it was a douche coach embarrassing a decent school. Now I realize it is just a douche school!

“without an attempt at de-escalation”

Except that the umpires let him know that he needed to stop, but he kept on going.

Yes, well they did deserve better. Too bad their coaches let them down.

Organizationally, LSU is just better. All this bullshite confirms what everyone is able to see with their own eyes.

What a f'ing shitshow...from the AD to the HC/1st Base coach all the way down to the whiney kids.

They may not have found anything to admire about LSU, but I sure did. Thrilled we have Jay Johnson leading our team and not whatever all that was.

Douchenozzle complaining in a presser vs a guy who has won 2 natties in 3 years and spent most of his presser recruiting.

Yall have fun in whichever Carolina you are from.

Sure did and their coaches let them down. Absolutely embarrassing that the AD would condone their adolescent behavior. But that explains why they couldn’t handle the moment. Pressure was too much for them. Apparently it goes all the way to the AD.

I saw that as well. Probably a copy and paste issue from text on an image that wasn’t corrected before putting it in quotes by whoever the staff reporter is for TD.

An AD that doesn't know the rules of baseball, shouldn't be an AD. He should sit down with his "coach" and have a talk with him. And, how he and his 1st base coach possibly cost them the game.

I see the AD left out the part where his coach decided to argue strikes and balls, which violates NCAA rules. Coach FAFO'd and now they want to cry about it. If I didn't know any better, I'd say their coach intentionally got ejected to cope better with talking shite and then losing.

He also left out the part where he was escorted out as well. Happened right in front of a friend of mine lol.

No wonder Schnall is the douchbag he is. No accountability. His superior is a leftwing idiot cry baby like him.

I get what the AD is saying but the coach was yelling about missing 3 pitches in the first innings.
Dude lost his cool and can only blame himself.

I wonder if in Saturday’s game, he and his coach coaches had berated the ups also. He’s a prick.

There is no "crying" in baseball, so just stop it. They talk about accountability, and then won't take any responsibility.

People continuing to say that big games should be officiated differently is the reason players and coaches act differently in championship games.

If.you are a hc in baseball, the ump tells you he just issued a WARNING to your 1st base coach about arguing balls and strikes, and then YOU tell him he has missed 3 pitches? And THEN act surprised you got ejected?

The NCAA needs to fine CC for the AD impugning the professionalism of the umpire. This is all on their roided up HC. Own it.

Seeing how petty they act, I'm beginning to think this was a rouse to get kicked out as an excuse. That first game killed them and his only longshot was to get ejected to try and create a spark for them to rally around him. AND when they lost (as he knew they would), have a reason to cry foul. Zero owning of their own behavior in the first freaking inning. Totally out of nowhere when they had every reason to be happy for stealing the base, dude just erupts out of nowhere. Chickens indeed.
