Georgia Baseball Player Dismissed For Using Alleged Racial Slurs Towards Georgia QB
© Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports
Georgia has dismissed baseball player Adam Sasser for alleged racial slurs he made towards Bulldogs’ freshman QB Justin Fields during Saturday's game. Per UGASports.com...
quote:

“No specifics were given in the email sent to select Georgia beat writers. According to multiple UGASports sources, however, the alleged incident involves first baseman Adam Sasser making racially derogatory comments directed toward a Bulldog football player during Saturday’s game between Georgia and Tennessee,”
A.D. Greg McGarity issued this statement on Monday night confirming that the university was investigating the matter, but it didn’t name Sasser...
quote:

"We are aware of a reported incident this weekend involving conduct by one of our student-athletes. While we are limited in what we can say about the incident at this time, I want to reemphasize that we do not condone discriminatory behavior. The University’s Equal Opportunity Office thoroughly reviews all reported violations of our Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy to ensure an appropriate response."

Ridiculous. The victim class is making a mockery out of society.

This country really needs to revisit the whole "Freedom of Speech" thingy before technology catches up to "Minority Report" levels. Someone saying something in private vs public has just gotten nuts.

As an AA man, I understand that it's easy to condemn and throw him off the team. But I would prefer this become a teaching moment. People are allowed to hold their individual views and use language they find appropriate. It's just some language is not appropriate in all situations. Teach the kid, and help him become better. We are all Americans and in this together, casting him aside doesn't gain us anything.

Well said surgicalvenom. Although he will regret getting dismissed more and I think he deserves it, this could be a teaching moment.

Is it really worth ruining a guy's college baseball career? And I bet that little story about her friend getting called racial slurs on the way to the game is BS. Fake news.

Would you have said the same thing had the guy been black tho? That's the real question

hit .310 in the SEC? alright, why don't you come play your last year over at LSU if UGA is going to kick you out for saying a word while likely really drunk.

"She had left to take a phone call during the fourth quarter of the contest, and she returned to a large disturbance involving her friends, Africa Buggs and Sierra Buckner, along with several other students." Africa Buggs????

I’m just glad we’ve got an Equal Opportunity Office to get to the bottom of this nonsense. This kid did not make our Diversity Offices job any easier. It’s OK UGA tuition is up 500% since I was a student because a good university must have dozens of “offices” that have nothing to do with educating a single student
