The batter’s reaction was great.

More than likely a case of one team beating the piss out of the other team and it’s time to expand the zone. I would imagine he informed the coaches as well. It has to be that or he could just be really bad or ready to go home. Nothing sucks more than being an ump the first year kids start pitching.

Yep. Kids started pitching at 9 years old where I grew up playing. Some long long games, even with the mercy rule, in that 9-10 year old league. Had umps tell us on more than one of those occasions "if your bat can touch it, it's a strike"

No, crimson. When you have to step on the plate to touch the ball you can’t call it a strike no matter how bad you miss your sister

Probably the closest pitch to a strike all day. Ump said frick it, tired of this shite.

I know some SF Giants fans who might disagree.

Good grief! Pitch barely made it inside the batters box. On a side note, the kid survived to face many other pitchers through a long and storied career.

Ref was probably wanting to get the hell out of there

Then he shouldn't be there. Nothing pisses me off more than youth level umps/refs that are ready for the game to be over.
