Tua Tagovailoa Says Ask His Father Why He Chose Alabama Over USC
© Butch Dill-USA TODAY Sports
During his appearance on the Dan Patrick Show on Thursday, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa was asked why he chose the Crimson Tide over USC when he grew up a Trojans fan...
quote:

Dan Patrick: You wanted to go to USC. You told us about this, you loved Matt Leinart. Did you worry about the Alabama offense being kind of… boring?

Tua Tagovailoa: Not really… What kinda went into that deciding factor was my father. We took a visit out there. We really only took three visits, to USC, UCLA, and to Alabama. I couldn’t really gauge what was good, what wasn’t good, because I heard Oregon had a great facility too.

DP: How did you pass up on USC if Matt Leinart is your idol?

TT: That’s a great question. I think that’s one for my dad, not one for me. My dad is kind of the reason why I went to Alabama.

DP: I don’t want to put dad on the spot here, but I was wondering about that. You loved Leinart, USC, had an opportunity to go there and you wind up at Alabama.

TT: Yeah, I don’t know how that worked out but I’m fine with it now.

I mean, in fairness, we’re talking about USC who clearly doesn’t give a damn about football anymore. If he wanted to be the next Leinart, his chances of doing that were infinitely better at Bama

Whatever it was they paid him, it still likely wasn't near what he earned the school while he played. Good for him and his family.

Yep, USC has been a stable program of late...has the best recruiting classes year in and year out, clearly has a stable coaching staff as well. Matter of fact, most would say their coach is the GOAT. Tons of Natty's of late and NFL players of 1st round draft caliber like candy. Yep, I just can't understand why he'd choose Bama over USC. Downvote away...I know they're coming but facts are facts. Sorry.

I think there's a pretty simple explanation, Tua's dad loved the idea of getting off that rock in the middle of paradise to finish raising his family in the middle of Trailer Park Country!

Simple, nobody pays like Saban. Well, that’s changed now, but then, nobody had the Bama commitment for recruiting budget.

It's not because Alabama offered the parents more than USC, no sir. It's common for parents to quit their jobs, uproot their younger kids from their school and friends, and move thousands of miles away just because their kid went to college.

Who wouldn't want to move from Hawaii to Alabama. Happens all the time I'm sure.

From way outside looking in it looks like They treated Tua like their meal ticket. Sad because he is a good kid.
