TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama announced adjustments to its future football schedules on Tuesday morning.

The Crimson Tide and USF mutually agreed to move their previously scheduled 2026 matchup to the 2032 season. Alabama will replace the USF contest with Chattanooga and as was previously announced, added a game against East Carolina for the '26 campaign.

Additionally, the Tide will host Marshall as part of the 2027 schedule.
The adjustment sparked a response from Kirk Herbstreit, who said more of this coming in College Football due to the 12-team playoff selection process.

Get ready to see this happen all over the sport. If it’s only about how many wins ya have and not who you’re playing and where you’re playing you’re gonna see every AD make these same moves. Kiss meaningful non conference games in late August and early September goodbye. Cupcakes moving forward till teams get to conference play.

It's the committees fault. They rank teams based only on how many losses you have, regardless of what they say. Why schedule to play at Ohio State when you can schedule New Mexico and it's viewed the same at the end of the year?

He's right. Think of all the money Texas is missing out on because they wanted to play OSU. If we'd played samford we'd be in the playoffs with a big payout for participating in it. Money drives college football. Scheduling cupcakes gives you a better chance to be in the playoffs. It's a no brainer.
