re: Question for Ole Miss fans

Booing because you believe a player isn't hurt and cheering because you are happy a player IS hurt are two completely different things.

Exactly. Ignores absolute numbers. There are more people in the Chicago metro area than Alabama and Mississippi combined. And that's not even the largest city above the Mason-Dixon line.

Once again, had a great time with the crew! Excellent hosts - thanks for letting us crash your beer pong table!
re: Aggies - how was Tuscaloosa

Both the husband (Michigan) and I agreed Bama/Ttown is the pinnacle of college football roadtrips. Loved tailgating, loved the stadium, loved the fans and atmosphere, loved Archibalds and Waysider (sat at Bear's table)-just had a great time. Bama fans were welcoming before the game and gracious after. We will definitely be back!
Everyone else I know who attended was similarly blown away. Hats off!

Was really hoping A&M would fill that spot for Michigan.

I don't agree with it but it's like stories of our grandparents who still hate the Japanese. Some people never get over it.
My family wasn't/isn't like that, thank goodness.

Agreed. The problem is segregation (whether natural or forced). The most racist person I've ever met in my life was from Mississippi. He was taught terrible things about blacks from his parents but was NEVER around black people. Met him when he went to trade school with my ex in Texas. Once he, ya know, MET some black classmates, they got along great. His mind was changed. It wasn't just having people of other races in his class; it was being assigned as partners on class work, having to talk to people, and the friendships that blossomed from that. That and he wasn't surrounded by social pressure NOT to be friends with people of other races.
That's not going to happen with everyone - but I wouldn't say this guy is particularly open-minded and even he changed. Cool thing to see actually.

re: Any Texas A&M fans coming to Starkville for the game this Saturday?

I wish. I know a good number that are though.

Same here - husband went to Michigan.
It would be boring if they played the way they played Bama. Borges needs to let Denard be Denard. There were what, 2 QB run plays against Bama? Typical old-fashioned Big Ten Lloyd ball there. Didn't care to open up against a non-Big Ten opponent...Rose Bowl is all that matters.

Meh, I'm a liberal minority city-girl and I fared just fine at A&M (and obviously loved it).

Are they still doing the Hex Rally before the last game? Or did that die with our rivalry?
For those who don't know, the Horns all convene before the A&M game to "hex" our team.

re: Are you pleased with the SEC Expansion adding Mizzou & A&M?

1) First to Mizzou and A&M Fans, what are your thoughts with being in the SEC so far? Are there any differences you notice from SEC fans compared to Big 12 fans?
Love it - the excitement of the 2013 schedule release is a proxy for this. Aggies I know were hovering over their computers waiting for it to come out, then furiously reserving hotels, and finally coming back together to discuss how things shook out. I never experienced that in the Big 12. Part of it is newness, of course, but really, it's just more exciting to plan trips to LSU, Bama, Ole Miss, Starkville, and Auburn (sorry Arky, just not enough home games, though a lot of people are trying to get in for this last one next year) than trips to Waco, Ames, Stillwater, etc.
The only thing I miss is the rivalry - it feels a little forced right now, even with LSU. It will come back as we interact more and more as opponents, but the level of hate just isn't there yet.

4) For Mizzou and A&M fans, how has travel been to SEC schools so far? Any special greetings?
Haven't been to any away games yet (heading to Bama this year, LSU next year) but SEC fans have been very welcoming in Chicago whenever I came across them. There's a good SEC Chicago group that gets together - they threw a welcome party for us.

6) Should we add another 2 schools soon to get our expansion to 16?
I'm hesitant to, just because it dilutes the rivalries. But, I'd add VT (they aren't politically tied to UVA) and NC State.

Great post, a lot of digest and I wish I had more time right now.
I did not think we'd be SUCH a between-the-20s team, I have to admit. I hope someone asks KK about incorporating the run game at the presser - I want to trust his offensive reasoning but I'm confused.
And agreed on Manziel missing a lot of open receivers...this isn't the first game in which it's happened, just the first in which it's been so damaging.
