It's only meaningless in hindsight if you don't win it all. Do you think Ole Miss regretted missing out on the SECCG after kicking our arse in their 2nd playoff game last year? Of course not, they beat the SEC Champions. If they regretted it at all, they only did so after they failed to advance in the playoffs.
Also, this is not an either/or binary; An SEC champion should also get to the Final 4 and the fact they haven't yet is simply egregious.

USCe's only role in the SEC has been to pull a game out of their hats occasionally and spoil a good team's season, then finish out 6-6 or 4-8 (2019). They have done nothing to make the SEC better or more interesting overall and never should have been brought in.
The only positive things they have done is send Lour Holtz and Steve Spurrier into retirement in disgrace. :rotflmao:

That is always the wrong answer. Just because you don’t know what to do tomorrow, doesn't mean you put off doing what you know needs to be done today.
UGA kept Richt around for partially for this very reason and was satisfied with 10-win season, until they saw other SEC teams passing him by. Then they went with a new guy that had no head coaching experience when it became apparent Richt had reached his full peak potential. How do that work out?
If you truly think your coach has done all he can do, or will do, then someone needs to pull the trigger and create the job opening. If the job is as desirable as Texas fans think it is, people will suddenly appear out of the woodwork to compete for it. Why create a lame duck situation by waiting until your AD can negotiate clandestine backroom deals with coaches afraid to come out publicly for it? Just file the divorce papers and put up your Match.com profile for the replacement.
Or you can keep complaining and hoping for change or stop complaining and enjoy watching for 3.5 hours on Saturdays and focus the rest of the week on the parts of your life you can actually control.
