One storyline for the Tennessee UK game this weekend that isnt being talked about enough is Stein’s youth as a Kentucky fan.
Beating Tennessee is the number one want of any Kentucky fan especially someone who grew up during the Fulmer years. Stein is gonna want this win more than any other.
Much like Spurrier hated Tennessee for not recruiting him despite growing up an hour from Neyland and Kirby hates Tennessee cause he went 0-4 in college against us, you have to wonder how badly Stein wants this because of his past

Do not forget about the storyline of him coaching this year so that he can get a better coaching job in the offseason.

Seriously doubt Stein will be leaving Kentucky anytime soon.

If Vegas had a prop bet: Will Stein will be at UK longer than Lane at LSU, which are you taking?

10th in SEC offense is pretty good for his 1st year.
Elite team, without a doubt.

He's had a very successful first year and certainly appears to have been a big part of Oregon's success. If he grew up a kentucky fan and Kentucky is willing to match any offer's he receives i think he is theirs to keep. That being said, why did he go to louisville?

He's trying to change Neyland's last major storyline of Lane having his team fake injuries to win a game.

His ability to develop and work with QBs might be top 2 in the Country. He is definitely better than Sark at developing the QB.

I would take Stein.

Minchey is 10th in the SEC in QBR
Manning is 12th.
Clearly better than Arch, but not saying much.

He was a walkon without a scholarship offer from UK?

This tells me all I need to know. If you are a Kentucky football fan, you a most likely a complete fcking loser.

Both programs have been equally irrelevant in the 21st century.
Should be a good game this weekend.

Correct. Beating LSU and keeping them out of the playoffs has become pretty mundane these days.
Was surprised Stein didn't get any solid offers coming out of HS. He was a gunslinging record setting QB for the states top program.

Well hell i didnt know. I figure if you could walk on at Louisville you could walk on at Kentucky. I sure as frick wouldnt want to play for my favorite childhood teams biggest rival, especially if it was just a walk on position. I would go somewhere else or try to walk on at Kentucky.

Tennessee did recruit Spurrier, hard. Ray Mears even offered him a basketball scholarship. But Tennessee and Bowden Wyatt still wanted to run the Single Wing and Spurrier wanted no part of that.

Yes, he's from Louisville and was Johnny QB at Trinity and yes, its a childhood dream to coach there, but very soon a real football school is going to back a dumptruck full of money and dump it on his porch. He can still love UK all he wants, but at the end of the day money talks.

Same. I think if Lane knocks it out of the park, I think he's going to try to scratch the NFL itch. If he doesn't, he'll be on the BK Express out of town. Stein strikes me as the type who will be content to stay at UK.
