In a surprising move, it looks like Tennessee is removing the checkerboard stripe from their helmets and pants for the upcoming football season...

Don't know when exactly the "checkerboard" was introduced to UT's uni's, but it was fairly recent. Certainly was not a "classic" part of the uniform.
