ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit offered up an apology to Florida State fans this weekend...
quote:

“Just want you to know I’m sorry we had a disagreement about teams at the end of the year,” Herbstreit said. “I’ve never been a guy that tries to intentionally upset fans with my comments. I’ve always tried to be very professional and respectful to everyone with my thoughts. I do a lot of prep and give just give my thoughts. If you agree or disagree, it’s all good. Nothing has ever been personal towards any team or conference. Just give my opinion.

“I hate that some FSU fans are making it so personal. I have respected the Noles for decades and will continue to do so. I understand the venom towards me; I really do. I wish FSU nothing but the best and can’t wait to see Coach (Mike) Norvell and his squad this Fall. No matter how many of you come at me on here I’ve got nothing but love for the Noles brand and wish you the best always.”

It’s funny… a lot of those people would be less angry if he had posted something racist than something even remotely negative about their team

Herbie is so fake. He’s owned by ESPN and says what he’s told.

Does he really owe those trailer trash fans an apology?

They got bad luck. FSU. It happens. When someone invests $100k in a stock and it tanks, that's bad luck. Can't blame anyone, or Kirk, just how life happens sometimes. Gotta move past it. The committee did the right thing as it was obvious they couldn't compete without the QB.

But they did repeat. And they did it with the 3rd string QB (along with a fantastic defense) which is to say they would likely have been even better in a playoff game with their 2nd string QB coming back.

And don't bring up the bowl game blowout because that wasn't even close to the team they would have brought to a playoff game.

I literally don’t understand our culture of being so opinionated- having the opportunity and platform to do so and then apologizing for that opinion. You won’t make these people happy Herbie. Just let it be.

They should have put FSU and when they got blownout by Michigan we could all laugh. Watching Saban loss was better tho.

I’m sure they’ll back off now. Just like BLM did when he sucked them off on live tv. SMH.

I don't agree with personal attacks on social media. He's just doing what he's being paid to do. Whether FSU should have been in the playoffs or not year end is irrelevant. It's a symptom of a flawed configuration where you had 5 Power 5 Conferences and 4 playoff slots. I don't think we were the best team year end, but I do think we did everything we were supposed to do and deserved a shot. To me, it should have been the undefeated Power 5 teams that won their conferences and a wildcard team. Not sure we still won't have this kind of controversy with the expanded format, and NIL and portal rules have truly destroyed what remained of the greatest sporting events in America. I'll still watch and root, but it's not the same to me anymore.
