Would you want to play in the SECCG.

Personally I'd rather have that week bye, then get a weak CFP opponent at home for the first round of the CFP. Thoughts?

If we blow out our next two opponents we are skipping somebody and getting a first round bye anyways. That’s a long time to sit idle tho.

When I know the health of CJ and Bowens I'll form an opinion.

I will never not be stoked about being able to win the SEC title.
I’m gonna take a “winner either way” mental approach. We either get extra rest, or a chance to win back-to-back SEC championships.
No bad options.

We've gone to the SECCG 4 years in a row, and what? 7 of the last 10, winning 3 of them?
That's a crazy run.

Honestly, I'd rather skip it.
More time to rest, no risk of additional injuries before playoffs, and you don't get punished for losing an extra game.
Seems like the current format penalizes you more for playing that championship game.
Don't get me wrong, being SEC champs would be great, but the way it's looking this year, im hoping we don't have to play it.

I do not want to play in the SEC CG unless we're in a position to have to in order to make the playoffs as a bubble team, in which case we wouldn't be in the SECCG in the first place.
The Conference Championship games for the SEC and Big 10 are officially dead.

All the CFP first round bye teams lost last year. I'd rather go into the CFP on a level playing field. The ideal scenario is playing as a 5 seed against the Group of 5 champ, followed by the 4 seed.
As we saw last year, we won the SEC championship, but it cost us our starting QB. We probably would have beaten ND with Beck (at least my opinion). So I am in favor of skipping the SECCG.
Plus it also brings attention to how pointless the SECCG is anyways in today's landscape of the 12 team playoff. It is an extra game that can only hurt you. If Alabama loses to Texas A&M as their 3rd loss, they seriously may get left sitting at home. I hope that happens so they get rid of the SECCG altogether

The ideal scenario is to miss the SECCG, get the 5 seed, and get a tuneup game against James Madison.

With A&M beating Texas and Bama beating A&M in the SECCG, I think we’d drop to 5 and get your scenario. This is what I’m hoping for, too.

If we end up in a 3-way tie for 2nd with Bama and Ole Piss after the Iron and Egg Bowls(meaning they'd both have to win), we are going to Atlanta.
So it's looking pretty probable we are going to play A & M

1 loss uga jumps a 3 loss bama. Only one team between Ohio state and Indiana are getting the first round bye.

Yes. Kirby's been to it every year except his first and covid. Playing in it wasn’t a problem in 21 or22.

in those yeras there were only 4 teams so winning meant a lot more.
Wtih 12 teams we're practically already in the playoffs as of right now today, so playing an extra game, with extra injuries, doesn't really move the needle a whole lot for us.
Obviously, that ignores the whole "being SEC Champions" thing which goes without saying. But from a strictly playoff perspective, I'm hoping we miss it.

Next season for sure but this season we are young and improving but also injured.
Be a good year to rest and host a lesser team in Sanford with the extra rest.
That said, I think could take TAMU if they get there....
