Matt Luke got Rich Rod to come on board but it will be announced after the bowl game.

sigh...

Why are you making this into a thing?

Kirby is a head coach, he has a background in literally everythign at this point. But people generally have "A BACKGROUND" in a specific area of expertise. Prior to UGA kirby had coached and called defense for abotu 15 years. There was also 1 season where he coached RBs. His background was clearly not on offense.

Also not sure how dell even plays into this. Every stop of his professional coaching career has been with RBs/Offense. Dell clearly as a "background on offense". I never once downplayed anythign about dell, and didn't even mention him!

He shares the same position that Smart held on offense. Just like Bmac and others.

I can let it go. You just doubled down on something kind of assinine. You say you remembered. But then post exactly as if you didnt. Just a little odd. That's all.

Cheers.

I'd love a shakeup but how good of a hire would this realistically be? I recall his michigan offenses being somewhat lackluster, and don't really remember anythign of note during his arizona tenure. Let's also keep in mind his 1 season at ole miss doesn't tell us a ton since his QB there has a wildly different skillset than ours.

We know all too well how his WVU offense gashed us. Sure, he had god tier talent in Slaton and White but it worked well.

Michigan he took over for Lloyd Carr and their personnel was so far on the pro-style side it was almost like a GT-esque effort to re-fit their offense to his style. Even then I think he got the offense humming but never got the 3-3-5 to work at Michigan where everyone else was still playing power football.

Pretty sure at Arizona he had some pretty good offenses but got fired for being a skeez.

Then Ole Miss had a decent offense.

I think he's be a dramatic improvement over Coley but I just flat out do not believe Kirby would make this dramatic of a change. If we did, though, a guy like King would fit in pretty well.

That would be a massive change. Have you seen Rich Rod’s offenses?

A good coach can coach almost any position either side of the ball. You don’t get to where Kirby is if you don’t understand offense at a very very high level.

Too late, this will be reported by Rusty on 247 in a few hours and then recanted once Coley is given a raise after the Sugar Bowl

If Coley is given a raise Kirby is the problem and we are in serious trouble

If Coley is still calling plays next season Smart really is Les Miles. He doesn't deserve another shot. He sucked in Miami and he sucked here running the offense

I believe we are going to hit a homerun hire from another program or the NFL though. Kirby doesn't seem like the type to settle. He made a mistake and he will correct it. Only question who from our current staff moves on to make room for the new OC.

Not a Coley fan, but he's been QB coach for a while. I think the mechanics breakdown has to be more on Jake. It looks like much of it was just him being antsy in the pocket and not trusting his line. He was pressing this season instead of letting it all come to him. Significantly improved play from Jake shouldn't take anything revolutionary. Maybe it's a simple as him having a bad season.

After the Sugar Bowl, Matt Luke will be named OC, Coley will have his papers and we will bring in a QB coach that is to be trained up in Luke’s system for OC when Luke takes a HC job in the next two years.

You haven't seen Kirby screaming into his headset while the offense sputters along this season?

He's screaming, "I called a great play. Why didn't the WR get open?"

It's telling that Coley was only involved with Rosemy's recruiting, he wasn't present during the in-home visit for Arian Smith
