This is pretty interesting. A little bit of inside info on what happened with Chandy. Players not happy, money, UGA didn't think Chandy was worth a raise to $1.7M a year, he screwed up the deal with the handling of Fields, Chandy was using a lot of vulgar language ( ), he was very irate about the Sugar Bowl loss, etc. Priority was keeping Pittman.

I'm good with him leaving. Got tired of yelling at my TV calling him every vile name in the book for some of the stupid shite play calls.

Just thought some would like to know why he is leaving cause Kirby isn't going to come out and tell anyone.

When I started to hear UT rumors I thought something might be up. Kinda like the CMR situation. We seldom learn what really went on. If Kirby wanted Chaney, Chaney would still be at UGA, and not trying to rebuild UT, where he has very little to work with.

The accepted narrative at this point is that we matched ut's initial offer, but when Chaney came back with tenn's counter offer, the staff was like "really? Ok good luck".

We didnt run him off, there was no drama. It was about money.

They talk about the whole Kirby/Chaney "relationship" in the interview too. But also state that Chaney and Coley didnt really get along and Chaney didnt like Coley as Co-OC.

I have it on good authority that Chaney and Coley got along just fine.

Only mention it because of what was said during the interview.

That was the first thing they talked about during the interview. Didnt want to pay Chaney $1.7M. Then they would have everyone else asking for that type of raise. End the end, not worth the fight.

Keep in mind Kirby hired Chaney to get Pittman

I did not know that. Knew Chaney and Pittman are friends but I am glad that Pittman didn't follow him to UT.

My understanding is that for UGA it wasnt about the money, it was about the fact we matched his offer and then he ran back to ut to jack it up and came back to us again. That is bad business. It's the principle of it. We offered him a significant raise to keep him, and he thought he would try to jack out a few more pennies.

Do you ever watch Shark Tank?

I had a sales manager that I gave a 10% annual raise, and a few days later he came back and said a competitor had offered him a little more to come work for them. I stood up, shook his hand, and said, "Let me walk you to the front door. We'll box up your personal stuff and ship it to you." he tried to back up and said he wanted to stay but I told him I want him to go for the money.
He didn't find a job for about 3 months and it paid less than I offered him. Sounds like Chaney got walked to the door.

FWIW... Buck said on 680 yesterday that Chaney was reason that Mecole and Riley R. decided to declare early.

I like your story because I don't like liars. I fire a great employee caught lieing.

However if I had someone in sales who was too chickenshit to ask for a raise, then I would fire him/her as well. You can't expect anything if you do not ask.

Can't believe what they say, they're just trying to sell ads.
