The only gamble would be who he hired as offensive coordinator. He has been Alabama's defensive coordinator for many years now. He would likely keep Pruitt in place not changing a damn thing on that side of the ball, and quite frankly we couldn't get any worse on offense. I'm not exactly sure what the gamble is?
We won nine games because of our lousy schedule. Throw us in a west schedule and we win 5 or 6.

What are the chances that if it's Kirby, he keeps Pruitt on? Anyone else and I think it's a safe bet Pruitt is gone.

The chances are extremely high. I'm not exactly sure why people would be upset about Smart. You keep the same defensive staff in place, make a good hire for the offense. Our offense couldn't get any worse than it is right now, there is literally no risk there.

Kindly highlight where I said I believe we should not be a contender.
I have always said we haven't been the elite program many here think we are. Three years with Herschel Walker does not a dynasty make.
That is not to say we can't become an elite program. If Florida can, any tean can. Richt brought us close to the top. We just need an HC that can coach the players up to the next level. Then we can contend for the SEC title every year instead of hoping we don't stumble and miss the East title.

As a DC, I would not want a top DC to be my HC and constantly making "suggestions" to me. Hire a proven HC who can develop QBs.

I took that is meaning
1) The non-Richt haters don't believe that in your mind else you would not make that distinction.
2) You are a non-Richt hater else you would not make the distinction between yourself and them haters (of which I am one).
