Wife and I are thinking about getting in the truck, and just taking off. No plans. Any suggestions? We live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Memorial is a holiday for one reason only.

Are you looking in Ga or just anywhere in general?

I know. I served 20 years active duty Military. My father was in WWII.

Drive to New Orleans, go to Hard Rock, and put it all on Black.

Technically, for hundreds of thousands of reasons.

Back in the 90's, I helped a friend rehab an old house in Foley. I like Foley. Sadly, I don't do others moves. Sorry.

Drive up to the Appalachian Mountains/Blue Ridge. Turn off your phones. Get lost in the wilderness. Find a campground and sleep in the bed of your truck. Weather should be phenomenal

Second this. Check out McCaysville/Copperhill. It's basically one city - half is in GA and half is in TN. They have a few good restaurants and a brewery. Raft the Ocoee, hike trails in the Cherokee National Forest, float the Hiawassee. Drive down hwy 74 for a scenic view.

Gonna be plenty of thongs and swinging Richards on the beach...if that's still the deal on Memorial weekend?

We lived in Pensacola for almost 3 1/2 years back in the late 80's and early 90's. Nothing there I want to see.

I think it's a pretty cool place but Memorial weekend was infamous for its male on male shenanigans.

That started after we left. When I heard about it, I almost threw up. We loved our time in P'Cola.

When did you leave?
It started about 20+ years ago.
