We’re watching an example of why you give your HC time...

Dabo was made HC in 2008 and started by great recruiting. He didn’t win his first natty until 2016. The trajectory has been constant even though in the beginning they were known for Clemsoning away leads or losing a game they should win.
We’re ahead of the curve and have beaten Bama just as handily for most of two games...we just fell short at the end. This is a marathon not a sprint.

FSU going to shite has helped. Same as Bama declining would help us.

We have to learn how to step on a team's throat and finish. We don't do that, otherwise we would have 2 SEC titles and a natty.

Yep...we will learn. At least we know we’re in the mix now and just have to execute.
I hope Fromm and the boys are taking notes.

Yeah people seem to forget Kirby would already have a natty and two SEC titles if we could hold onto a lead

Clemson has one hell of a defense. We did too in 2017 but didn’t have the offense to challenge Bama in the second half of the natty. This year we didn’t have the horses on defense to hold Bama and we didn’t keep our foot down in the second half of the SECCG.
We’re on our way.
We’re on our way.

Do you have a clue to all the ahit Dabo got when he repeatedly lost big games his first 5 years?

We never had that during the last regime, either. Well, not since the public murder of Hawaii during the 2008 Sugar Bowl.

I still remember the Orange Bowl where West Virginia scored 70 points. They were ready to run Dabo out of town

That plus the losing season the next year.

who Clemson? They've won 10+ games since 2011. Orange bowl was the end of that season

This. When you have a lead against Alabama, you can't let your foot off the gas one bit. I'd rather be accused of running up the score instead of being the team that choked the game away by going conservative

Not just head coach. Clemson's staff has been pretty stable too and they work well to implement Swinney's vision for the team. Kirby likes to chew up yards and wear the opposing defense down, which can also mask some deficiencies in your own defense. Some UGA fans are infatuated with offensive styles that Kirby hasn't embraced yet, and they blame Jim Chaney for that. If Kirby decides he wants a more aggressive "keep your foot on the gas" offense next year, that's what Chaney will call IMO. But it has to be a mindset, not "let's do one thing 9 or 10 games a year and then dial up something different when it's necessary".
