Not really. Sometimes I would spend more, other times, less. I was pretty serious about not spending money though
2 times a week going out to eat: $20
Food:, depends on the week. My main diet in college was ham sandwiches and oranges. $20
Alcohol- early in college I was all about premium liquor but by this point, I drank the cheap cheap stuff. $12-15
Going out, mainly bars where I would order the house liquor drink and make it last awhile: $20-25

So how much would you pay Trigga Trey? How many millions of revenue will UGA lose if he finds himself disappeared?

All other ancillary issues with paying players aside...the UGA brand puts butts in seats....not the players. This is evidenced by the fact that they rotate in and out annually yet we still make $$.

Have you ever seen a football player buy a drink? Food and other commodities on the other hand...

I just have to say, the "social life is expensive" in Athens has it pretty wrong IMO, unless you want to just go crazy. Outside of bills and rent (together 530 to live in a downtown loft) I spent usually a little less than 80 a week on food and social stuff. Not hard at all.

I know it is hard to convey this, but when you are a star and you see other kids taking dates to expensive dinners and driving nice cars and you are getting enough money to scrape by, it is not easy to accept. Then you see a guy a few years older than you who signed a NFL contract driving a Mercedes with wide rims, it eats at a lot of the guys. You can be mad at this fact and justify it with the wisdom of a middle aged white guy and that is fine, but frankly, it is ignorant on your part. I am not excusing the theft aspect, but the desire for more money is not unique to college football players. What sucks is I am sure they hear from the other players they grew up and were recruited with how they are getting taken care of...

And some of y'all need to get off your high horses. A lot of the kids are not here because they think UGA is a great degree no more than UGA feels like they will directly raise the incoming GPA and sat average. They are here because they think UGA is a ticket to the pros and UGA has them here because they will generate revenue far above the mythical cost of their grant and aid...

If you guys are all about the brand, then that's great, but sadly, it is hard to find 75 football players that can even come close to competing if they all had to meet the general admissions standards. UGA would struggle to be as good as Vandy and fanbase would dwindle to hard core fans and some students.

Again, breaking the law is not excusable. My point here is not to condone that, but to point out the lack of understanding most of you have about what these kids are going though and what the game has become...

Thanks Peter.

I want to reiterate to everyone, this whole thing is a misunderstanding.

When they made the deposit on the phone it didnt work right, so then they cashed it. Later the check actually cleared from the phone deposit and they got scared and didnt know what to do. This is a learning experience for these young men, growing pains. They may not have come from families and communities that teach them all the ins and outs of banking and financial responsibility. This is a great opportunity for the staff to take a look at some of their orientation and life skills programs for these kids.

On a completely unrelated subject, how many schollies are we over 85 right now?

shite Peter, I'm coming at it from a Senior Citizen perspective...

I agree with most of your post & understand that CFB is what it is now. The traditions, romance, the growing up wanting to play for old state "U", the amateurism & supposed purity & ideals of CFB are just a memory from the past, especially for those who didn't play. It's big money now & a lotta these kids see the numbers & resent the fact they aren't getting any (proportionately).. Got no grind there..

My prob & what pisses me off the most is that they were fricking stupid & clueless as to not understand that there was no way to get away with what they tried...Gotdamn...

It's one thing if you're bussing tables at Longhorn & skimming tips, you might get away with it, but shite a fricking bank kinda keeps up with where thew money comes from & where it goes...

Imma more embarrassed that they thought they'd get away with it & we let someone that fricking stupid into school..

I thought these guys had been doing this since January? If it happened once to all 4 guys your explanation could be really plausible and you could definitely give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially if they were the ones that told authorities of the issue. However, from what I read, this practice started in January and there were multiple infractions for each person (totaling 11) so it's easier to believe that they knew exactly what they were doing...plus the AA were the ones that reported the crime to the police.

You actually took the bait. I'm impressed.
