Stet's father on what Stet has endured from the fanbase this year

quote:

“The kid loves the game, loves the University of Georgia but nobody could love what he went through this year,” his father said. “Nobody. Man, it was really bad. ... I never dreamed that it could be as bad as it was on a 14-1 national championship team.”

If I was Stet, I would tell everyone to kiss it and I would go somewhere else. I can't fathom coming back next year and enduring the same insults from the same ungrateful fanbase again. I wouldn't. I can't imagine a player who has won an Orange Bowl MVP and a NC MVP being questioned anywhere but here. All he does is win.

Everyone is allowed to have their opinions on who they think should be starting, but if you reach out to the kid to bash him personally, you need to do some serious life reevaluation.

So I was brought up that you should never boo college players as they are basically still just kids. My dad would get really mad about that and obviously, it was ingrained in me back in the Stone Ages.

However, we now live in the internet age. If you don't want to read it, then don't go looking for it. Like the poster said above if you are literally saying it to him face to face then you are a prick and you should get your attitude adjusted painfully. Also if you are going on a college kid's social media account and posting trash you are a prick.

But if you are a college football player and you read DawgRant then you are opening the proverbial Pandora's Box.

I'm older and like a lot of that generation, we were taught that while everyone has a right to their opinion, you don't have to voice it, especially when it has the capacity to hurt someone else. Those days are long gone. If he leaves and we falter because of we, we justly deserve it.

Negative comments about Bennett's ability to win against top competition didn't prevent him from winning a natty and an MVP award. Bennett's father is making a mistake by calling out fans. Stetson's winning play was perfect response and nothing else was needed.

Doubting his abilities was not an issue. Booing him, saying horrible things about him , mocking him with demeaning memes. shite that low level people do was the issue.

Most people suck. He would've faced the same backlash anywhere else.

^^This

But also, I would add that we should hold the same standard for JT.

Exactly. I was in this camp, and I'm happy he proved me wrong on both CFP games. Bennett III seems to be referring to people making it personal with his son, which is incredibly low-rent behavior.

There is something deeper when it was the school you grew up a fan of. The irony is that cünts are just such horrible people, they can’t understand how their behavior is so wrong.

We are here, I have always supported Stet. Noticed something different about him early on and the 2020 Arkansas game where he had no live reps with 1-2s prior was nothing short of amazing as he took the offense from reverse to fast forward.

Uab also stands out, he made them look stupid and they were better than at least half our sec schedule.

So even if our defense gives up 17 points per game, we still have an o to blow them out with stet. He runs the o and our young qbs duke it out in the 3-4 qtr to prep for 2023.

Whats funny about the haters is, their opinion was never going to matter, just support the team and trust the coaches.

I personally could not be happier as a UGA Grad that Stetson was the one to lead us to the promised land. I hate the sidewalk fans more each day.

Stetson Bennett IV is what is right about UGA and Collegw Football.

I am not sure what he is referring to, but every QB at every school that cares has to deal with sometimes brutal criticism. Its part of the deal.

Hell Stafford still hasn't fully matured as a qb. Still doing dumbshit at the Rams and he is our gokd standard.

He and stet are opposite, one given incredible inherent qb talents and a generational arm, the other was given a great mind and leadership ability.

The mind and leadership ability accomplished more for us.

Opinions are fine. As fans we are allowed to have them. I draw a very big line at attacking players on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. You're a special kind of loser if you resort to that crap.

It does suck for the player and his family and friends, but it's nothing new. Fans complain about the coaches and the players on every team. It's part of being in the public spotlight, I'm afraid.

I'm glad that Stetson and his family got personal vindication with the championship, though.

I understand where he's coming from and I agree with him, for the most part.

That said, the first three quarters of the final and the last quarter of the final are night and day different. If it weren't for the defense we'd probably be down 17-13 instead of up 13-9 starting the fourth quarter. Can you blame anyone for thinking the game was moving too fast for him?

With basically only slightly more than one full season worth of starts, Stetson beat the Alabama Dynasty and all that came with it. All while getting few live reps in the past to preseasons.

Incredible if you ask me.

Hope he comes back and wins the Heisman!

Some announcer said after the NC game that Stetson had exactly 20 snaps of preseason practice (I'm assuming with the 1s, but maybe not: that may have been it, period.
