Sure. But it doesn't make sense to call out Bama for having bad games and conveniently leave out ours.

Mizzou was absolutely a struggle win. We've had exactly 1 struggle win. Kent was not a struggle win, we never trailed in that game, and won by three scores. We should have won by 5 scores but we still won by 3. We had backups in the game in the 4th.

Alabama had two struggle wins, where it literally came down to the final plays of the game. There was no garbage time for backups, it came all the way down to the wire, against inferior talent. And now an actual loss to put on top of the two struggle wins.

Look, I am a believer in Hendon Hooker, I was a beliver in him last year when I was following Stet's stats and his metamorphosis, right there at the top every week with Stet was Hooker. I have known he is legit. Tenn's problem is they are a mediocre team overall. Yes, Hooker is good enough to single handedly make a mediocre team into a great team and carry them on his back. He's good enough to turn a 7 win team into a 10 win team. But they are not championship caliber. This win over bama, while huge for Tenn, isn't as much of an accomplishment as people are making it out to be. As state above, Bama has damn near lost to two other mediocre teams this season, and now a real actual loss. Hell, Bama might get beat again by Ole Miss. 2022 Bama is not the Bama that people used to ask "how many NFL teams could Bama beat?".

Good post. I agree for the most part. I don't think Tenn is a mediocre team overall, as you state, no more than Bama is, BUT without those 2 QBs those teams are just above average( keep in mind there's what 130 other teams in the group). I agree completely with this:

The Vols aren't as good as that win would suggest. That said: their offense is a heck of a yard stick to measure our defense by. If we hold them to under 24 point's I think it bodes very well for our defense against OSU if it comes to that.

Obviously UGA has to play great, if you turn the ball over 4 times against a quality opponent, you are going to be in a very shitty situation. If you do what Bama did and commit over 100 yards in penalties, 17 penalties, AND turn the ball over several times, you are going to be in a shitty situation. If UGA plays a mistake free game and executes at the level they have shown they are capable of, Tennessee (even on their best day) doesn't stand a chance. But as I just said, if you give them chance after chance after chance, with turnovers and penalties, then we're in for a hell of a game. That's my position.

It’s going to be one of those -11 spreads where everyone thinks Vegas is smoking meth and passing out money and then Georgia goes on to win by 24

i dont know if it will be as high as 11 but i tend to agree that we are going to be favored (at least at opening) by way more than any neutral or tennessee party would predict right now.

there were 1000 different ways that they could and probably should have lost that game on saturday. either way, they still appear to be quite good, so im not hating on them.

ill go uga -8.

Brooks austin commented that Ringo and lassiter switched sides on Saturday.

That could be an indicator of some sort of future scheme (either going back to boundary corner/field corner or putting a specific corner over a specific receiver down the road).

It could be setting up the Belichick/Saban specialty of having your #1 CB(Ringo) covering the #2 receiver and bracketing the # 1 guy w/Rochester and Starks.

I honestly don’t know how Bama kept allowing Hyatt to run right by them untouched.

Golding is borderline retarded.

I have a piece of the 2000 goalpost. When it reached a neighborhood, someone pulled out a chop saw and started cutting out sections of the post.

You know I never stopped to consider that the goal posts would ever make it outside the stadium, up the street, and into people's houses. I just sort of thought they were left on the field. Seems like a lot of work to move a goalpost that far, but drunk-strength is different than sober-strength.

Also do you have a picture of it?

Tennessee is a #3 ranked team. I will be surprised if we are favored by more than 4 or 5 points.

There were also 1000 ways they could have won by more. If the hand off between the QB and RB goes smoothly then the scoop and score does not happen and all of a sudden the FGs do not matter. Also, Tennessee was playing the 4th quarter without their top 4 cornerbacks and (I think) a starting safety and Alabama could not take advantage of it.
Alabama has some serious problems in their secondary...they can be fixed, but make no mistake Tennessee's offense is legit. Their defense is absolutely apalling, but keep in mind their defense gave up fewer points than Alabama's by 10 or so points.

The key to our game with Tennessee will be how we use out TEs. We will need to exploit the medium pass game to the TEs and when their safetys creep up go over the top. Their front 7 is legit and running the ball will be difficult, but doable if we can get the short to medium passing game going. I expect to see a similar game plan as we had against Oregon, throwing quick outside screens and short to medium passes to Bowers and Washington. Defensively I think we will try to pressure Hooker but not necessarily sack him. We will keep a spy on him to keep him in the pocket with a controlled rush with players staying in their lanes to prevent him from pulling the ball down and running.

I see a 4-5 point spread. It could be a close game or we could blow it open. If their receivers get behind our DBs they could blow it open, too. This one scares me.

That shocks me. It will be interesting to watch the line move. I'm also surprised they came out with a line this early...but I am not a bettor, so...I also suspect they know more about things than I do, so they are probably correct. If we beat them by 11 or more I will be extremely happy.

Destroying their dream season will be a pleasure. Gotta force the Gators further into their shame spiral first, though.

For me, just shutting up their obnoxious fans would be amazing.
