Did they ever report the distance on Condon’s HR?

They did not.

And now Branch hits a grand slam.

Starting to maybe like this team.

Watching the game tonight, why did GA move from Evoshield to Marucci? Just wondering.

Dawgs beat Stetson 11-5 and improved to 12-1 on the season. Keep sleeping…

I believe Wes has a relationship with them via his time at LSU (they’re based out of BR)

Real talk

How good is Charlie Condon? What is his pro comp? I see him getting 1st pick in the MLB draft projections. Is he a generational dude?

Not real talk but a real question???

Kinda like Basketball, can we compete when we get to SEC play? Love the scoring but aren't we woefully lacking in pitching?

Any pitchers coming around and looking better with innings or is this team what it seems to be?

Thought I'd ask, Tyler or someone give me the skinny.

Thanks for taking my call, I'll hang up and listen...

He’s a top 5 draft pick for sure. I wouldn’t call him generational, but he’s damn good

He’s on pace to eclipse Gordon Beckham for best season ever at UGA. He’s already tied Michael Curry and Parks Harber for career HRs in only 1.25 seasons.

So, he’s absolutely generational in the context of UGA baseball.

In the context of the larger sport, he’s a top 5 pick with a shot at going first overall. Hardly generational but certainly going to be a candidate for SECPOTY and a Golden Spikes finalist if he can stay healthy. The big piece missing from his game was where to put him in the field and he’s now played 5 different spots this season alone. I think he ends up in LF or at 1B at the next level but he’s at least demonstrated his range and ability to play athletic defense.

Good point. I thought he meant college baseball. He is definitely one of the, if not the, best players to play at UGA

Yeah, we’re not going to dominate anyone from the mound and it’s going to cost us some league games. How much we can mitigate with our lineup is hard to say for certain given our level of competition to this point but we at least have a mentality for sticking with it and competing.

Right now, we don’t have solid Saturday and Sunday starters and that’s obviously an issue. Mracna had a good start last night but… we just pitched the guy who has been starting our Saturday games on a Wednesday this week. Obviously, we aren’t settled there yet. Too, Finley has a lot of what you want in a big arm but he can’t seem to find his confidence or control and isn’t making it very deep into his Sunday outings.

Bullpen has been a mix of good and meh. Most stable arms out of the pen so far seem to be Kolten Smith and Brian Zeldin. Everyone else has flashed a good inning or two along with some rough sequences.

Biggest issue as we get into league play is that we only have two healthy lefty arms - Goldstein and Evans, both of whom are our Friday and midweek starters, respectively. So, no lefty relief out of the pen.

On the bright side, Goldstein has looked at least pretty reliable as our Friday arm. He’s not going to dazzle or blow opposing batters away, but his stuff is pretty solid and he has experience/confidence on his side. He reminds me a lot of Chase Adkins from the 2018 host team. Too, Evans is making a case for himself to maybe start a weekend series soon. He’s going to walk guys as a result but he’s got a lot of strikeout potential and has shown so over the past few weeks.

Great analysis. Completely agree about the basketball comparison too. What we are playing now is nothing like what we will see beginning in a couple weeks.

Hopefully the bats continue to hit. The object in all our successful teams is scoring.

That could change too when they see SEC pitchers….I like what I see so far, but again, it’s going to change very quickly in a couple weeks

Don’t think we’ve faced an opposing pitcher who has tossed over 93-95 yet. Everyone we’ve faced has thrown as high as 91-92 and some have thrown changes in the 72-73 range off 85 fastballs.

Needless to say, when we start facing Friday guys who are pumping 98 consistently (and some pen guys throwing 101) we are going to see some adjustments taking place
