Turnover Margin. Champions. Pruitt.

Got this nugget from ESPN
quote:
With four takeaways and no turnovers against Arkansas on Saturday, Georgia leads the FBS in turnover margin at plus-13. That is an attribute the Bulldogs share with the past two BCS champions. Florida State finished last season at plus-17, and Alabama finished the 2012 season at plus-14. Georgia shares one other attribute with those two teams -- defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Funny how that works.

Yeah they were just talking about this on 680. Amazing how the defense has improved and gelled all season.

While his is a tribute to the defense, it is just as much of a tribute to the offense for not putting the ball on the ground and/or Mason being careful where he throws the ball. You have to give credit to both units.

Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships.

Very valid point, and the offense may deserve more credit for the stat than the D. We've only lost 4 turnovers through 7 games

How long before Pruitt leaves for a vacant HC job? 1 more season? 2?

I think that will depend on our success this season...if we win a championship...be it a natty or the SEC...he gone
if we come up short in the SEC...he will stay and get us farther one more season...then he gone...
we are just another stepping stone...

I expect UGA will try to make it like a Kirby Smart/Chad Morris situation. Pay him over $1M and hope he waits it out for the best opportunity, not the first one.
I also think the failure of Will Muschamp helps. Big schools may steer clear of Saban tree DCs for a bit.
ETA: I don't think he'll leave after this year unless a really big school offers him a HC job.

If we win natty Richt is off to mission work and a lifelong department/consulting job.
Pruitt HC.

Yep, Pruitt leaves when he gets a HC offer at a big school that he can't refuse. His success at UGA will not influence when he leaves.
I'm not entirely sure I want Pruitt as HC. His recent history has too many transfers for my taste.

Exactly. Big schools will want to see him actually construct a defense over 3 or so years before they hand him the keys to their program. He's never done that. Being a HC is about much more than creating a solid patchwork defense.

I would much rather Bobo as HC than Pruitt at this time.

Yeah. We Know Bobo can crush beer with the best of em. Pruitt is still a bit of an unknown.

I looooooooove pruitt but if richt were to die or retire or something after this season I think bobo would probably get a longer look than pruitt. He's an alum, been here for 13 years, and his offenses have really been great the last half of his play calling tenure.

Absolutely!! Murray's overall impressive stats did come with some INT's and we've had our share of fumbles as well. If Mason can continue to take care of the ball and the defense keeps getting TO's, we will have a chance in every game we play.

I agree. I would not be opposed to Bobo as HC; keep his leash relatively short but I would take him over many others if Richt were to retire. He takes a lot of grief (sometimes deservedly so) for questionable play calling every once in a while but his coaching ability is undeniable.

Unless Bobo's happy just doing what he's doing.
