AJC Article

Released from the hospital this morning after being rushed there last night. Anybody know what this was about? Apparently NOT drug or alcohol related.

IDK what to make of that. Maybe dehydration or something? If he was released that quickly not sure how serious it could be

Is it odd that the police were the first to the scene of a "medical emergency" rather than EMTs? Everybody is saying no drugs or alcohol involved, but the police being involved still makes me a little nervous.

Also fwiw, I've seen TT on campus recently wearing a shoulder immobilizer/sling, so perhaps a complication with a recent surgery? Just spitballing.

Some people on 247 are saying it's kidney stones. Hope TT is doing ok.

I've heard he's having his shoulders worked on this offseason (labrums probably). Hope the big guy is ok!

The first thing they teach you to do as an EMT is make sure the scene is safe. Police are there for that no matter the reason for the call.

It could have been a number of issues. Kidney stones would certainly fit, but could have been an inflamed appendix, prostate, etc etc.

I would imagine if the other players on the team know and are not talking about it, its medical and nothing bad.

He's withdrawn from his classes per UGAAD. His health is the priority but I wonder if him dropping classes affects his ability to see the field

No expert, but it looks like TT will be granted medical hardship, and shouldn't lose any playing time.

Has to pass 24 credit hours in a calendar year starting in August, to be eligible. Could take summer classes depending on how many classes he took and passed in the fall.

What was the "scene"? Dorms? Somewhere else? What was the time of day?

Before you ask me to click the article, I'm sorry I don't click on AJC links anymore.

That rule looks like that's an extra year of eligibility and not necessarily excusing him missing the required amount of hours to be eligible for next season.

Per Radi:

Rising junior Trenton Thompson is withdrawing from classes this semester while he recovers from an adverse reaction to medications prescribed specifically for an undisclosed medical condition, UGA officials announced on Thursday.

“Trenton was recently discharged from the hospital and remains under close medical care,” a statement by UGA said. “With respect to last night’s incident, the physical appearance and behavior described in the UGA PD report is solely related to an adverse reaction to medications prescribed specifically for his medical condition. The adverse reaction required emergency transport to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.”

Toxicology tests for OxyContin were negative, the statement added.

Quote from the AJC article. Is he being treated for depression?

Why are you making that leap?

Also why did the AJC include the oxy part? Weird.

Glad he is all right

He recently had surgery for a shoulder injury. My guess is he was prescribed oxy for the post-surgery pain and either they stupidly let him take it without monitoring or he had an allergic reaction to it.

Really hope it's not an addiction issue. That shite is so dangerous; already had a couple of friends from high school die from ODs on pain meds after routine surgeries and I ain't that old.
