There's a team meeting at 4 today. Richt has been in Indy for a coaches conference. Kirby and Cochran have both been in Orlando with their families. Menwhile, Saban has been home in T-Town interviewing defensive position coaches (odd, without your DC around).

Will be curious to see what comes out later in the day. Someone will break silence

One question...why does everyone keep bringing up the HCIW thing? Has Richt indicated at all that he's close to being done? I imagine he would have 10 or so years left, especially if we get Smart and become a consistent contender again. if we do poor which would push Richt out, Smart might not live out the inevitable firing anyway.

I mean Richt is in his early 50's right? Plenty of coaches go up to 70

Here's a plane that is in one way or another involved with UGA. It was gonna head to florida (presumably to see kirby?) but was rerouted. Not sure why. Most recent trip is Athens to Indy

Also, here's the official UGA plane

No way in hell Mark Richt is UGA's HC for another 10 years. After 2012, I fully expected him to hang it up after this season, especially having seen how haggard he was on the sidelines during 2013. CMR retires within 2 years, I venture, especially if we get KS and nothing disastrous happens from now till the end of the 2015 season.

Love it when fans track planes.

Maybe it was diverted because we just dropped our guys out paratrooper style and had a convoy of black Escalades waiting to pick up our interviewers? Super-secret.

God knows Saban has radar stations set up to detect this and Bama-radicals all over FL and South GA with Stinger missiles.

I also agree Richt won't be doing it for much longer. You can tell the wear and tear this is having on him. Dude's hair is whitening faster than our presidents. That said, I think a lot of my opinions are tainted with wishful thinking.

Knowing our (my) luck Richt will announce he has no plans on retiring, Smart will be told to frick off cause he wants to bring a big boy strength staff, and UGA hires the Buford HS DC.

So you think he'd actually step aside if Smart gives us a D worth capable of contending for titles again? If we get close I think he keeps trying until we eventually win one and I doubt he would retire right after winning one.

I just don't see him leaving willingly for 5 years or so. Especially if we get better. If we don't make any progress, we are all going to be irritated about having already named our HCiW who isn't helping things.

Smart wanted to bring Cochran in 2010 and we refused, but that didn't stop kirby from agreeing to come. Even with that, and with garner, and with us coming off of 6-7, kirby still agreed to come. I can only imagine we look more enticing now. And I agree, Richt can't do this much longer, 14 years is a long arse time in this league ESPECIALLY for someone like Richt who has other things in life he wants to do.
