I just saw that they're making everyone wear masks inside the stadium. I gotta find a more comfortable mask.

Dawgs 34
Taters 28
I think the Defense keeps DJU honest and prevents their offense from moving the ball the way they'd like. I expect lots of swing/screen passes from them.
We might give up 1-2 explosive plays, resulting in a TD or two.
The story of the game will be way the WRs stepped up and delivered in the absence of Pickens/Gilbert/Washington.
I expect AD Mitchell, Brock Bowers and Arian Smith to have great performances.

With the recent news of injuries, I'm amending this down to 14.

Hopefully the schools have a contingency plan in place to move the game on short notice in case stupid political frickery forces the stadium to not allow full capacity.

Close for 3.5 quarters, low scoring, UGA win 30 to 17 behind a strengthened run game due to downfield passing ability early.

Brini potentially starting at Star and Speed possibly at one of the corners... if that's where we're at, Justyn Ross might get 200 yards receiving. Between the injuries and the inexperience, our secondary may not be ready for this game as the season opener. Maybe the Ringo we all have hoped for will suddenly materialize.
On the other side of the ball, losing Washington took away a real weapon...maybe Bowers will have a true freshman breakout. The other question is whether Truss, Mims, or Jones are yet the real deal they need to be at LT.
UGA could be the complete team by midseason but this is a very rough opener, especially banged up.
I can see something like Clemson 35, UGA 28
Or even worse if our rebuilt secondary gets torched all day.

Clemson is rebuilding Oline and they are undersized.
Running the ball with their new backs ain’t happening with our front 7.
Because of that pressure on DJU, it will be a lot of quick throws. Not much time to throw 40+ yards often.
Turnovers will be the key to the Dawgs win, mixed with our RB’s pounding the rock by 4th qtr we pull away.

We can give up 200 to Ross and still win the game. That strategy has worked in the nfl and college before. Know thay he will get his. Dont let anyone else do anything (i.e. 300 yards total offense).

Dude hasn’t played in over a year and was limited in training last year… he’ll probably catch a few but I’ll bet you $1000 right now he doesn’t sniff 200 yards. He’ll be lucky to finish the game. It’s gonna take some more in game conditioning before he’s anywhere close to 100%.

Why would Kendrick and Ringo/Kimber not be starting?

Hmm.
A wager is required to settle this, no doubt. Loser posts pic of wife? Just spit spitballing here.

I expect Kendrick to start on one side. (Note though that Kendrick's history was not to do so well against top opponents...let's hope he's developed further since then).
It's the other side that's a problem. Kimber has been battling a shoulder injury. Kimber is also not the long, tall type of corner we've favored in recent years but might be the most ready if it wasn't for possibly not at 100%. Ringo of course has elite upside but it's not clear that he is there yet. He lost about a year. Of Kimber, Ringo, and Speed, the latter is 100% healthy and by far the most experienced. Now maybe if they go with Speed, we'll discover that he's the next great thing. He does have that great size for a CB at 6-3, 200 but if he was the real deal, you would wonder why he's always been behind others. Kind of like Brini...good but not great.

That would be good for UGA but Dabo's remarks after last Clemson scrimmage indicated that Ross was his finally his old self again and making big plays all over the field.

People may be forgetting that Clemson's d-line is also elite. We'll need balance. Sucks about Pickens and then Washingon...game changers. But others like Mitchell and Robinson may show out. Robinson is due...not sure why he never put it all together last year. Mitchell looks like a future star. Then there's Bowers...another player (like Cook) who is a linebacker's nightmare in coverage.

Tell me more about Bowers.

Dabo also made it sound after the last scrimmage like his team could’ve beaten the 72’ Dolphins. I’ll reserve judgment.

Bowers the speedy beast
Allegedly 4.5 range 40s timed in camps. Hard to believe but still...reviews suggest this is not a typical TE.

It's hard to predict this one. It's hard to believe the last time we played was 2014 and we manhandled Clemson at home. It was home and hot as hades. I remember thinking we had a shot at the national championship that year because our defensive line manhandled them. Somehow I am thinking that Kirby thinks that he can run the ball on Clemson. I think Monken tries to spread them out early and then Kirby will want to grind. Of course if we get behind by 2 td's or more that plan is out the window. I think we need some big plays on special teams and defense. I don't think we can win a shoot-out.
