Sorry if this has already been asked but has anyone heard anything about swift not playing? I’ve seen it on numerous FB Dawg pages just wondering what’s up with that

Rumor:

Hes a third year veteran doing all of the drills.
Why not put bubblewrap (noncontact jersey) on him?

If he has anything, it doesn't impact him from running and cutting full speed.

Kirby:
quote:

On D'Andre Swift practicing in a non-contact jersey

"That was just so y'all would focus on that. I see that it obviously worked. Y'all missed, at least I haven't seen it written yet, what I didn't want you to see. You've got that good. I'm glad y'all got that”

Answer is obvious. Swift is QB2.

Lots of downplayed injuries. Lots of players with parents who think they’re bigger than the team and need to protect their draft status in spite of practicing. Who is to say which it is? But it’s one of the two re the original subject.

I'm not sure what that means. Are you saying Swift or his family doesn't want him to take full contact in practice? Seems unlikely, but it's happened before with star athletes as they approach draft status. But he could be recovering from a concussion as was rumored earlier, which would warrant less contact for a while. Either way, Kirby will give playing time to the players who can practice.

Swift is fine. He was wearing a contact jersey just 2 days ago.

There has been speculation on UGA boards that his jersey doesn't tell the whole story of what's going on in practice. Maybe just boredom or trolling. 247 has been talking up Herrien's role and that adds fuel to the rumors. We'll find out on Saturday.

I don't know if this report from Monday is super accurate, but this has been the worst I've heard:

quote:

Questionable: RB D’Andre Swift:

As of this past week, the Dawgs star running back D’Andre Swift has been battling an upper-body injury and is unknown whether he will suit up in the season opener vs Vanderbilt this Saturday. The injury doesn’t seem concerning and Swift should be back in no time, but is listed as questionable for now.

Per DawgNation - Injury report as of this morning.

quote:

Swift, however, has been back in the normal red jersey color the past week and Smart has not indicated that the projected starting tailback is dealing with any sort of serious injury.

But if he does has some sort of injury, we have 3 damn good dawgs that can take his place on Saturday if needed.

I've heard that Herrien gets the start, fwiw, and that Swift will play.

I saw that rumor, but didn't see what "list" they were citing. It's not clear where their information originates.

^^This- we were a demonstrably better team last year when he finally hit 100%. We know what he can do. Don't need him pulling a groin in practice. I suspect he'd only get 8-10 touches if 100% anyway.

FWIW- I don't think Rodney Hampton got hit outside of a game beyond his freshman year.

So he goes into the ND game not having a touch all season?

I’ll pass on that idea unless he’s legitimately hurt.

USA Today has Swift, Dean, Salyer and Rochester as questionable from UGA with Cook and Zamir White as probable

Thanks. I didn't know that USA Today keeps their own injury list. I also didn't know that Cook was injured.
