Should we be surprised if Alabama is #1 tonight?

I got a feeling that the committee will put them number one this week because they beat a ranked LSU team and we beat an unranked South Carolina team.

I agree and I don't care. Our road is what it is at this point.

Wouldn't be surprised but it shouldn't matter.

Being number one is a great feeling but right now we just need to win the last 3 games and then beat the DAWGshit out of Bama.

If they had crushed LSU I would fully expect them to be #1.

The fact that they had the same score as we did, plus their resume didn't really improve THAT much would kinda surprise me a bit. Even still, if they are #1 we will overtake again next week (assumign both of us win, obviously) as we would yet again have a better resume

Good deal. It wouldn't have mattered to me if Bama was #1 because we know where we are and what we have to do. In my opinion, our focus should be on two things. 1) Win. Plain and simple...keep winning we will be there in the end. 2) Staying healthy.

Agreed. BAMA is having a difficult time with staying healthy this year!

Yeah and at thsi point, assumign of course we both win out, we will hold onto #1 based on remaining schedules

Auburn/MSU
Kentucky/Mercer
GT/Auburn

Unless they beat the 2 SEC teams like 80-0, our SOS from here on out is certainly more difficult so if we both win our remaining games it looks like we're 1 and they're 2 going into CCG wknd. Which I personally love, because IMO it makes the committee more likely to leave them out of the playoff. If we win as a 1 seed the committee is going to be forced to put bama at either 3 or 5, and I'm not sure if they would only want to drop them 1 spot. If bama was #1 going in it'd be a lot easier to keep them in.

This is exactly my thoughts unless there is just a lot of chaos in the other conferences. Same reason I thought we would be left out originally it we lost in Atlanta. Number one will have a slight margin of error. Number two... Less so. Glad to be there right now.

I think this will be the toughest year the committee has had picking to top 4 this year. If both Bama and Georgia wins out and either one lost a very close game in the SECCG, I think it could be hard to justify leaving one of the two teams out of the playoffs. Of course Georgia has the better resume, Alabama will have a fairly solid one by the end of the season. I know all the talking heads are saying that a non conference champion can get in over a conference champion but I believe you have to take the 4 best teams regardless of who wins their conference. I think the Big 12 has been one of the, if not, best conferences in the country this year. They are absolutely beating the hell out of each other right now but if their conference champion has two losses, do they deserve to be in over a one loss Georgia or Bama? How about the Big 10. If Wisconsin wins out, do they deserve it? How about a two loss Ohio State or Michigan State? If ND wins out, I believe they deserve it because of who they beat regardless if they play in a conference or not. Washington in the PAC 12 could sneak in but I don't think the PAC 12 is very strong and I don't see how they would have the strong wins to justify them being a locked top 4 team. In my opinion, I think the committee opened up a lot of shite last year when they allowed Ohio State to be in the playoffs when they didn't win their conference. I think that opened doors for a team like ND to get in or two teams from the same conference. But who knows? A lot of football is left to be played and we know Georgia has a lot left on their plate. Things change weekly in college football but it will be interesting to see how the committee responds if things do play out the way we hope it does.
