I agree that we got predictable at times and some of the calls (like the Landers end around) were down right stupid but while the Notre Dame defense isn’t overly deep or talented (comparable to ours) they are all juniors and seniors. I think, honestly, Kirby thought we’d be able to play more conservatively at home and get the W easier than we did. I think if he knew what kind of an effort it was going to take he would have done things differently.

Just seemed like the lbs and dL were the ones making the plays. Lots of clogged holes just using the 4 lineman. Of course I hadn’t rewatched since I was there and didn’t have the best angle at times.

That FG meant they could not tie with a TD and a FG so they would have to go for two TDs. I wanted us to go for the 1st down but it was the right call for the situation.
I think the play-calling on the next series we had was not so good as it gave the ball back to ND with too much time left.

I agree. Kirby is great, would not trade him, but I hope he is learning rather than convincing himself that a win= great coaching job. There is no reason whatsoever that ND should have had the ball with plenty of time and a chance to win last night

They had 10 in the box multiple times especially in the 1st half.

Kirby needs to just do more. If he is satisfied with the way our first half was called we won't succeed.

Cause right now we’re doing just enough. Misjudge an opponent and “enough” will lose you the game. Do more is a good motto but we need to actually go by it.
