Can we just demolish it and build something nice?

There are a lot of memories with Stegman but it is time. Seems they could use if for some other purpose to keep it around and just build a new facility.

They sent a letter out yesterday saying that it would likely take several months for repairs and inspections. Not sure where you are hearing 2025, cause that sounds like we would be getting a new arena.

Also, this is the 3rd time in 5 years a small piece of concrete has fallen. The other 2 times it was inspected and no hazards were found.

I do agree though, wish we would built a new facility

I'm no expert, but it seems like if this has happened three times in recent memory, it is in fact, hazardous.

The first two times it was considered to be “flakes”, where as this time it was a piece of concrete between the size of a baseball and softball

Just tear the hunk of shite down and build a new arena.

Has anybody seen GSU’s new arena? The thing looks 5x nicer than Stegeman and it’s inexcusable for GSU to have ANY athletic facility superior to anything UGA offers.

Stegeman is nice, and is 100% not the reason we fail as a program.

BUT, if it is indeed going to be closed for 2 years then I can't think of any real rational reason not to tear it down and build anew.

Regular season is over. They are in Nashville for SEC tournament that starts tomorrow night.

We are not making the NIT and the Women will be in the dance so no more basketball home events.

Gymnastics will be performing in Gas South Arena

Tear. It Down. Pour salt on the ruins. Rebuild a basketball Taj Mahal and pretend our basketball program starts in 2026.

Our ancestors will thank us.

It's always been scheduled for Sanford Stadium, and it's on May 12th at 7:30. Really not that hot the beginning of May. This year will be the first time they are requiring tickets to attend. Students are limited to only 6 people. The construction at Sanford is pretty major from what my daughter is saying. Her Honors college graduation is stupid, they only allow one parent if married, but two if the students parents are divorced. How dumb is that?

Apologies. The Graduate commencement ceremony has been moved outside to Sanford Stadium.

wow, I heard about this. I imagine if this is true we would try some location in metro Atlanta on a temporary basis. I assume Gwinnett Arena would be a choice. State Farm and Tech may accommodate for some games but there would be a lot of conflicts. It kind of reminds me of the time part of the Ga dome roof collapsed during the SEC tournament.

They should play in Clarke Central's gym so they're always playing before a full house.
