I want to see the QB competition extend into the first two games

If we don't know who our #1 QB is during the 2nd game we've got major problems.

In 06 we had a senior comparable to Mason, the clear QB of the future, and another freshman that had some talent. We started the senior then he got hurt. Then we played the future and he sucked, then he was benched. Then we played the other freshman and he sucked worse, then he was benched. Then we tried the senior again when he was healthy, and he was mediocre. It wasn't until halfway through the year that we went with the guy that everyone with a brain cell knew was going to be our guy in teh long term.

We don't need to be flipping and flopping. Barring an utter disaster of a live game performance, we need to pick a dude and stick with him. Whether it's park or ramsey, they aren't going to start their whole career anyway.

Park redshirted last year and supposedly he was very impressive as the scout team QB. They said he watched film of the next game's opposing QB and perfectly mirrored their playstyle.

Park also won 4th place at Dilfer's Elite-11 QB allstar camp (Winston won 1st place), and we got to see him there before he even came to UGA. He's way more mobile than Ramsey, has a tremendous arm, and he came from a pro-style passing scheme in high school. Park will also absolutely get 1st downs and TD's using his feet too.

Ramsey played the wing-T, passed much less, and isn't remotely close to as mobile or quick as Park.

Their arms and accuracy is about the same. But Park is a quicker thinker and also way faster and more mobile on his feet.

We should all be hoping for Park.

Good points, but based on video Ramsey appears to have more velocity on his throws than Park. But that was mainly HS video and it's possible that the coaches have improved his mechanics.

People tend to forget BR has an enormous learning curve and expect a nearly finished product already. To me he's already where he needs to be in development considering his prep days.

With the Bobo vs. Schott thing... Bobo has never had to gameplan with his QB vs. NFL defenses week in, week out. How that translate to D1 football, . The new OC also inherits a very good and very deep OL.

Park has a palpable intrigue. I'm very partial to mobile QBs too. Spring Game will probably set Ramsey with Shott and Park with BM or Lilly.

So? He's never led an NFL offense either. Both people have had to prepare their team against the competition on their schedule.

How do you know this without having seen him in a live game at the college level?

I've got one I think is pretty funny, but it's kind of mean-spirited...... and could fall into enemy hands to be used against us.

I'm gonna just keep floating "J-Park" out there to see if it sticks anywhere....

You might be right. I'm just going off the games I saw Ramsey play in last season. His progressions weren't "slow", they just looked messy and timid. But maybe we just chalk that up to fear and pressure as a result of very little playing time.

If you go watch Park's HS film and that Elite-11 camp, he already knows how to progress through a pro-style route tree sequence. He can move around the pocket and hit his #3 or #4 receiver target. It's already part of his game.

Ramsey rarely had more than one or two throwing targets, much less progressing through a 4-receiver string. So I guess I'm just assuming Park can think quicker. But I very well could be wrong too.

The one definite big difference though is mobility. Park has natural fast-twitch movement and is surely faster running. That said, I have no idea if he has better decision making skills and instincts.

my points for who should start:

1) who can hand the ball off the most successfully (don't laugh, not all of these folks can do this)
2) who can play action fake the best, the most effectively (ala David Greene)
3) who can roll out when necessary and hit the 5-15 yd patterns and keep the drive going (ala Murray)
4) who can take the hit and hang in there (ala mason)

Goose Creek is like the South side of ATL in the 70s. It is embarassing that they are even considered part of the Charleston area. God help us ....
