if you read this thread and have the urge to post "it doesn't matter" or "win out and we are in" or anything even remotely similar, just don't. we all know that. have fun, it's cfb season. let's talk about cfb and some hypotheticals. that's why we are here. shite, predict your final top 4-6 as well if you want.

1) LSU
2) Ohio State
3) Penn State
4) Alabama
5) Clemson
6) UGA
7) Oregon

why top 7? because that's the lowest we could possibly be and once we get past that, it's either too convoluted or not as fun to talk about. there is some intrigue into utah/oklahoma and where to rank baylor/minnesota, so feel free to discuss that, but im not going to in this OP.

i don't see any reason why we shouldn't be 6. oregon has the better loss but no wins of relevance. we have 2 wins better than any other single win from a 1 loss team, but our loss is fairly bad.

where will the committee differ? there is no way they have penn state ahead of bama and clemson, but man it would be fricking awesome if they did. they may put us at 7, but i just don't see it. if they do, would we pass oregon this weekend when they are on BYE or would it take until after auburn?

I'm in the camp of "it doesn't matter" but I'm bored so will play...

I think you have the top 2 right...with a clean slate and wins over top teams, even if they were pre-season rankings, LSU's resume looks the best. Will they be able to play a complete game on both sides of the ball vs. Bama?
OSU has looked good with their tests to date and has a D and player in Chase Young that are without a doubt imposing.

No way in the world is PSU third...that's for Bama only because of SoS vs. those above them.
Clemson...has coasted it's way through but that's what they do. Coast through, struggle randomly, and then turn the switch when they need to. Until they can't, don't see how they're out of the top 4.

Oregon has the better loss and has been improving on both sides of the ball. Had an injury scare the other night with Herbert but otherwise unphased by teams best shots.

I got us at 7 with the runway in front of us to move up.

1. LSU
2. OSU
3. Alabama
4. Clemson
5. PSU
6. Oregon
7. UGA

1. LSU
2. Ohio State

4. Penn State
5. Clemson
6. Georgia
7. Oregon

I'd imagine the committee is sweating over the possibility of the SEC and B10 both backdooring a one-loss team in.

can it happen, though? are we assuming that clemson is good to go at this point?

clemson, sec champ (or best sec team if we win the sec with 2 losses), big ten champion, big 12 or pac 12 champion are all ahead in the pecking order.

it certainly gets really interesting if we can get oklahoma and oregon to 12-1. a clemson loss would also spice things up considerably as would a uga sec champion. i would LOVE for the committee to actually have some decisions.

ohio state
LSU
Alabama
Clemson
Penn State
Georgia
Baylor
Utah
Oklahoma/Oregon (tie)

Here's my top 10. Oregon's only decent OOC was a loss to Auburn who is falling out of the top 20 with another loss. Oklahoma needs to beat Baylor to move into the top 7.

I'd love to see the committee sort out

SEC Champ (Georgia 12-1)
Big Ten Champ (Ohio State 13-0)
Big 12 Champ (Oklahoma 12-1)
ACC Champ (Clemson 12-1)*Throwing in a hiccup here since a 13-0 Clemson makes it easy
PAC 12 Champ (Oregon 12-1)
Alabama 12-1
LSU 11-1
Penn State 11-1

*not saying this happens. I just find this one of the more interesting possibilities to debate.

Based on how good a team they are and not most deserving I rank them like this:

Bama
Ohio State
Georgia
LSU
Clemson
Penn State
Oregon

I think OSU and LSU are mirrors that could look much different when facing an elite d. LSU does this weekend and OSU will in the playoffs if they beat Penn state.

My top 7 (purely the best looking teams):
1) Ohio State
2) Bama
3) LSU
4) UGA
5) Clemson
6) Oregon
7) Penn State

UGA probably has the most dominant offensive & defensive front in CFB this year. I believe we'd be slight / moderate favorites against Clemson / Oregon / Penn State.

Ultimately I think Clemson & OSU are playoff locks with the other 2 spots up for grabs.

I think we would make LSU and OSU look more like Florida did this weekend. Though I think both are better than uf, Lsu obviously.

It will be interesting to watch the SEC when UGA wins the SEC championship. You could have a one loss UA or LSU who did not play in the game with a top ten loss. A one loss UA or LSU who lost in the championship game against a top ten team, and a one loss UGA champion who lost to an unranked team.

Sec winner is in, I think the sec loser is also in depending on score.

Can't discount head to head and one team played an extra game.

As of today, I would have us as the lowest ranked 1 loss team. We have by far the worst loss.

I wish LSU could get two losses because I don’t know if they can keep a 1 loss LSU out with the wins they have vs Texas, Florida, and Auburn.

8 teams control their own destiny right now:

LSU
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State
Penn State
Minnesota
Clemson
Baylor

That’s it. That’s a good place to be in. My top 7 as of now is probably:

1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Bama
4. Penn State
5. Clemson
6. Oregon
7. Georgia

I don't see LSU getting in without winning the SEC. Same for us and Bama. Assuming, of course, that we don't have a slew of 2 loss conference champs.
