#4 is ridiculous. I can't believe that's even going to happen. Smart left Bama, they have a new DC. In what world is it okay for Smart to still be coaching Bama

Chaney uses his TEs, uses his RBs, has a solid QB track record, and will mold his offense to fit his personnel (the total opposite of Schotty).

Y'all need to chill the frick out.

Sadly, it looks like we either bungled this key hire or for some reason, no elite OC wanted to come to UGA at this time.

Well, we just fired a coach for going (only?) 9-3 and having a 74% winning record for 15 years, and we have the reputation of underpaying a successful OC (Bobo) for years. So, which top OC wants to step into this mess?

Just think, all the Richt haters got exactly what they have been screaming for the last 10 years, yet now there seems to be some doubt among these same folks about the new hire.
Had we made this move 5 years ago I would have been behind the coaching change 100%. Well, maybe 85%.

So the summary is:

Chaney, who will turn 54 in January, has had mixed success as an offensive coordinator, but he offers experience and a varied background in offensive systems. He has run pass-heavy offenses, but also the power-running attack at Arkansas.

Not exactly impressive. Possibly Kirby's most important hire...and it's someone who has had "mixed success"?

And then there's the weight issue. Just going to go ahead and say it, but doesn't send a good message to players. Apparently he has no self-discipline when it comes to the buffet.

Only if you agree to be his personal trainer.

Also need to remember that while a guy like Mike Sanford would have been a sexy hire, we need someone that has run an entire offense by themselves before. Chaney has done that many times over. Sanford is still learning under Chip Kelly at ND. Difficult to find an OC out there that has a combination of experience and acumen running the whole offense without being pegged to become a HC in the next 1 or 2 years. Hell, everyone was giving Bama shite for bringing in Lane Kiffin and he hasn't been terrible for them.

I agree on this point. It's the one thing I'm trying to hold onto in order to make this seem ok.

Not even remotely the same issues.

For folks struggling w Chaney hire… In past 2 years, 2 of best defensive minds, Narduzzi & Kirby hired him. Think about what that says.

you can also look at the stats, but sure do that.
