Was at the game last night. Was able to call every play that involved him...plow the middle. He had a couple of powerful runs but I am trying to recall if I've seen Coley attack the edge with him. Have we? Have no idea how elusive he is. No doubt how powerful he runs and hits the hole with authority. BUT, what's he like in open space?

We'll find out next fall. He will be the featured back with Cook right beside/behind him.

dude...27-0 enjoy it

We got LSU instead of Bama. They have ZERO defense and Burrow will be on his back plenty with our bend-dont-break defense. Why are you worried about our 3rd string RB getting outside runs right now? He is in there to wear down the defensive front while our top 2 RBs get some rest

And at this point I'm getting a little anxious about our RB situation next year.

We all saw the breakout runs and potential of Swift,Sony,Chubb,Gurley etc as Freshman
and I've yet to see it with Zeus.I get that he's coming off major knee surgeries and we get Milton next year but I just don't see in Zeus what I saw in those other guys.

Gonna miss Herrien as well.

Let's hope Zeus is back to 100%next year.
I still don't think he's back.

I find this odd also. Zeus comes in for one play...a run between the tackles...then goes out. WTF are we trying to do?

Dude... it's something called a "sub-plot". Ever heard of it?

Oh I enjoyed/am enjoying it. My point is I'm really rooting for him. He is an inspirational figure given his story so far. Just anxious to see the rest of his skillset. Also frustrated that when he comes in, everyone knows he running off tackle. Same complaint with the Coley play calling...too predictable STILL.
How about answering the question. Has he attacked the edge yet? Probably missed it but I don't recall.

It's a reasonable question. Our offense is stagnant and fans always question play selection when that happens. I'd like to see White get some open space too. He's looked both powerful and explosive when he gets the chance. Herrien is powerful but nobody expects him to break many long runs.

Those runs are getting Zeus valuable experience and loosening up the defense. He hits hard.

Exactly what I said. He isn't going to run outside right now. Wear down the defensive front while our RBs get some breathers.

If I had to guess, I would say he is still not 100%. I mean two injuries like he has had? I wonder if he is having a hard time cutting. It is good to have a big power back, but we will need a back that can come in and go wide and make cuts, too. It makes me nervous that we have not seen him outside or make any cuts...only plow ahead, as you mentioned.

It could be a matter of the plays that are being called for him, or he is still recovering and is struggling to make cuts. It's hard to say. As another poster said, we will know next Fall.

You asked a question and answered it in the next sentence. Just because he's playing and running after the second surgery doesn't mean he's fully recovered. He's getting carries and building his confidence while not over stressing his recovery. Remember Chubbs year after surgery. He was very good but not like his senior season.

I think he's healthy...he's driving through contact and pushing piles. I understand that ACL has more to do with cutting but if he was at all hesitant with the knees, I really don't think you'd see him trying to push 700 pound piles of flesh with his legs.

Could be we're trying to keep him hidden until we need him. Could be Kirby wants to show allegiance to Herrien in his last season. Could be Zeus isn't practicing well.

Who knows? Seems like a good question to be posed to Kirby from the press. If Zeus is able to get outside and cut, I would sure feel better heading into next season if we got to see him do it a bit this season.

You have great insight on our playcalling.

A lot of UGA fans seem to forget our running back U highlight runs.
Gurley, Chubb, Sony, Holyfield... a lot of the best runs are inside the tackles where the back bounced them outside.

I mean... a lot.

We havent been doing that as well lately. I'd love to see that too. Our backs arent finding those lanes as well. Gurley, Chubb, and Sony all had elite vision. Holyfield wasnt running away from anyone. He had to cut to space to find room.

We havent shown that vision to date. We will have to rely on Dell and film study to improve

Run him off to Ohio State maybe? IDK.

Not really. He should be more explosive at this point. He has an ACL and it's normally
a 9 to 12 month recovery and I'm assuming
faster than that for a 20 year old with some of the best physical therapist and facilities in the country.

Wasn't the same injury or surgery. He didn't have a ACL and tore multiple ligaments. It was far worse.

Let's see who he looks a month from now or
this spring.Hopefully we'll knows little more then.

It's a good point and one I've been wondering about this season. When teams loaded up in the middle, Holyfield bounced outside several times a game and made great yardage doing it. I'm not sure if it's vision or if the coaches have discouraged these kids from doing it. If it's the latter, I wish they'd reconsider because the middle running lanes have become a clogged toilet.

Zeus has shown glimpses of home run play potential. But he’s only getting around 5 touches a game. Think about how often it takes Swift to start busting big plays. Tail back is all rhythm. Plus, give credit to Dell also. Everyone knows about him as a recruiter but he’s one of the best assistants in the nation IMO. We will be fine at the RB position next year.

This has to be the fewest big TD runs I can ever remember us having.
