It has to have more to do with the child than the role in my opinon. You’d think being here and seeing greatness it would be annoying to go play on an 8-4 team. And I have to believe these guys are smart enough to know the scouts don’t base too much on garbage time layup stats. Idk. This to me is why the one year transfer sit rule needs to come back. If you’re gonna allow NIL free for all, there has to be some deterrent to the player just going highest bidder each year.
As far as this situation, I think AD and his place in UGA history affects our view more than anything. Don’t get me wrong. I was/am expecting a big year from him as he’s a stud, but we were the big school that finally offered after he sent out his highlight tapes and couldn’t get a scholarship. Then he rewards that by balling out in the postseason and helping break the drought. Now he drops us like a hot potato because we don’t have as much cash to offer as UT. It’s almost a slap in the face. At least it’s UT and not an actual rival. But still.

Georgia is adding two key transfers in the forms of Dominic Lovett (Missouri) and Rara Thomas (Mississippi State).
Speed merchant Arian Smith has said he is returning, and veteran Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint is expected to follow suit.
I think we'll be okay at WR, but I'd feel better with Mitchell staying in the fold. WR depth isn't a luxury we've been spoiled by.

He’s also the one guy we have that is both lengthy and twitchy. Ladd is twitchy but short. Rosemy is long but not twitchy. Smith is neither but is incredibly fast and inexperienced. I think Lovett is very similar to Ladd and Rara is Rosemy but better.

Tyler Williams is supposed to be the truth too. Maybe this opens up a chance to shine for him.

He’s also looking at USCw apparently…

He’d definitely be able to put up numbers out there…they’ll have to score 60 and play the whole game to win with that defense. But yea. Takes the whole close to his kid angle out of it. Just money and/or stats based.

It's about 2 things- money and he's pissed about the WR transfers in. Feels undervalued.

Which part of consistent WR injuries does he not understand? Portalling out only underscores the need for the transfers in.

Early guess would be Rara at X, Ladd at Z and Lovett at slot with Rosemy-JS as first man rotating in.

I just want Arian Smith to be KR/PR
Posted on 1/18/23 at 1:41 pm to VoxDawg
I actually don’t like that. KR maybe but not punt return. As explosively speedy as Arian is, he’s nothing special as far as I’ve seen when it comes to short area quickness. I’d actually like to see him stay healthy and perfect routes other than a go route.

Yeah this is honesty great news for Rosemy at least. He will have a chance to drastically improve his NFL prospects where AD at Texas is more than likely to tank his more than improve them. I don’t wish him bad but that’s simply the truth.

This underscores the problem with the portal and allowing immediate playing time. Kirby (and Saban) always told guys that they may get little playing time their first couple of years but their time will come later. Now these guys are seeing portal guys coming in to eat up their later playing time and are going elsewhere seeking playing time. Burton, for example. He probably thought Arik would crowd him off the field.

What's dumb is that the NFL literally doesn't care about production.
UGA rotates every position on defense but safety (we even rotate safeties when we go nickel/dime).
The NFL doesn't care. Tyson Campbell was splitting reps with DJ Daniel. The NFL doesn't care.
UGA rotates every offensive position but C and QB. George Pickens plays 4 games, catches 5 balls, and goes 2nd round. The NFL doesn't care.
Travon Walker splits reps.
Jordan Davis splits reps.
Devonte Wyatt splits reps.
The NFL doesn't care.

Then that distills it down to purely $$$ and/or ego.

I'm sure there is ego.
You can't get to that level of competition without some sort of ego.
And there may be ignorance.
How many people honestly know that the NFL doesn't care about college production?
The other dumb aspect is that "avoiding competition" doesn't fly at the next level. Players are just a cog there too.
