That receiver had no chance at catching that ball. Under NCAA Rule 7-3-8 and 7-3-9, pass interference restrictions only apply if the receiver had an opportunity to receive a catchable forward pass. He was running away from the ball that hit the ground in front of him. It was a good no call.

He had zero chance of catching that ball. Also, Alabama's first touchdown should have been taken off the board with one of the most blatant missed holds I have ever seen.

Exactly!
The ball hit our guy, who was a couple of yards behind, in the calf.

No chance to catch

Can’t tell if he could or couldn’t . We ran into himd pushed him away from the ball. To me he had his eyes on the ball and come have possibly adjusted. All of that was literally one second of time.

Was there an actually flag tossed and picked up or was it the ESPN guys ahead of themselves?

We ran into him before the ball got there. Ball hit both our defenders and Bama player. Was by a second ..is what it is. Strong chance he catches it. PI would have been better than a catch…unless they ran the clock down.

every time keelon ran out of the pocket we were getting the shite held out of us.

I'm still waiting on an explanation on how him throwing the ball away from inside the tackle box wasn't intentional grounding either.

Like too many media folks they voice their opinions and not facts. Tired of Fowler and Herbstreit ... Bama apologists.

Less than a second. You have three players and the ball converging in a split second. It’s only when you slow it to frame by frame you see the defender beat the ball. We had guys make plays with defenders on their back….they beat the ball all the time but unless it’s blatant no human can pick it up and PI is not reviewable.

It was PI. It was a missed call by the refs.

And I don't care.

Refs miss calls. They missed calls all game on both sides. They miss calls in every game everywhere every Saturday.

If you go back and watch the preceding Georgia drive that ended with a field goal from the 5 yard line, on the 3rd and goal play,Helton was being held from the moment he crossed the goal line. It should've been either holding or PI, resulting in 1st and goal on the 2 yard line, but neither was called.

I watched the entire game in slow mo and they could've easily called half a dozen more penalties on both teams, all of which could've changed the outcome of a possession and the score of the game. Herbstreit and Fowler aren't announcers, they're partisans calling football games to suit their agenda. And they pick and choose which replays they want the audience to see on that same basis. And just to clarify and update the record, since 2007 Georgia has won half the games played in Tuscaloosa.

The more I watch the replay in real time..yes he got there early…but everything converged at once. Really bang bang play so it’s not fair to slow it down to frame by frame by frame. I guarantee you that if you do that on every contested catch you’d see the same thing.

I be fair, we would all be furious if that was our guy trying to make that catch. However, it is not the reason why Bama lost. We beat Bama in every facet of the game.

They’re going to make the game all about the PI, and make excuses like the holds weren’t actually holds they were “sideways 4D arm bars” or something. Just let them bitch. We’ve been boned by calls before, and it’s not the reason they lost. Plenty of opportunities to beat us

Probably would not have caught the ball. Watch it again, though. It actually hit the receiver on the leg, so it was definitely in a catchable radius. It should have been called PI. The idea of it being catchable is if it is in a catchable radius and not way overthrown or hitting the ground 10 yards in front of the receiver.

Check it out at the 30 second spot, and it clearly shows it hitting the receiver squarely on the knee, which definitely makes it catchable.
To me it makes it better that it was a missed call because of all the no calls/missed calls Alabama has gotten over the years, such as the blocked punt/off sides that wasn't off sides in the National championship game.

Exactly. Bama just got beat. We beat them in every way...passing, rushing, TOP, 1st downs, sacks, defense....They just lost. No sympathy.
