this.

You can't say those things and then not offer any kind of apology. Absolutely terrible Public relations.

This whole deal is super fricking stupid. Its border line making me angry. How are we supposed to 'let go' of racism when every chance they get, the media and parties involved blow things sky high. Racism is a buzzword. There will always be some racism, and thats merited. I have some black friends who are the best kind of people in the world. On the other hand, a I have meet some where the N bomb is probably appropriate. Same with whites... I have some white friends that I can completely understand why black people hate them, I hate them too. We need to drop color and just realize that its the people who suck, not the their color. Paula wouldn't hurt a fly.

It isn't just about the n-word. At some point, I'm sure we've all said some sort of racial slur, regretfully.

The main concern here is she referred to her black employees as her "little monkeys" and specifically had white and lighter skinned blacks working in positions where they would come in contact with customers, while dark skin blacks were put in the back. Obviously all this is allegedly, but she hasn't done much to deny it.

Also during her apology tour, she referred to her best black friend as being as black as a chalkboard, and how the camera couldn't even see him....that was just really stupid...

It isn't so much about the n-word, as it is you can't really implement those types of hiring practices in this day and age.

I think this whole deal is absurd but Paula Deen always bugged me with what I always saw as one of the most contrived southern accents I've ever heard

Nice lady. Met her a few years ago and spoke with her again recently. I think it's ridiculous what's happening to her. If a black person was in the same position, nothing would be made of it. I think it's a case of piling on when not much was there in the first place.

What is interesting is Paul Deen is removed from the Food Network for saying the N word almost 30 years ago and Obama is still president for his drug use that he did a while back ago. What is the world coming to.

This is hilarious. And indicative of just how far past the Twilight Zone we really are.......

There is nothing offensive whatsoever about the statement you describe. Zero.

Black is a color. Chalkboards are black. SOme people are black. Like chalkboards.

The funny part though.....is that if you look at your statement logically.........THE ONLY WAY HER STATEMENT COULD BE OFFENSIVE...........is if you think there is something bad about being black.

Otherwise, what's the big deal?

Obviously, "white as snow" and "black as night" are common phraseology and used in a joking manner more often than not, but that doesn't change the fact it's probably not the best idea to make a race related joke after being accused of racism. I don't think anyone was actually like "omg I'm so offended kkk 666". It just wasn't the smartest thing to say or appropriate at the moment in time.

The words used aren't even the important part of the matter. Again, it's not being PC when actually practicing the employment policies she is allegedly accused of.

Okay I'm gonna pull the "I know her better" card again. She said that to Hollis. He's this giant black dude that she cares about like family. He's her body guard/driver/personal friend and he's awesome.

About the "little monkeys". Again this is getting mixed with what she's being sued for by Lisa Jackson at "Uncle bubbas" restaurant. She did not operate that place, only helped fund it. Lisa is a white woman who owes a lot of money in back taxes and is said to be awful and got fired. She even said that paula has never uttered a racial slur around her. The media has done a fine job of mixing what she said under oath, with what her brothers restaurant is being sued for.

Lastly to damn good dawg-
That accent is 100% real. I've been on vacation with them and spend plenty of time with them to know she doesn't exaggerate any of it. In fact my name is Matt and she's always said it the way she said it to Matt Lauer yesterday. She's a kind woman that is seriously getting some undeserved misdirected anger her way. Frickin shame.

Disagree. "Racism" is nothing but a political smear-word. It's not some evil mental condition that weak white people succumb to. It's a fricking smear-word used to demonize......plain and simple.......and has been assigned waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much power due to the pussified moronic cattle-herd society we live in.

I can't think of any better way to stand up to the ridiculousness of the "racism" smear-word accusation than to joke, mock and ridicule the finger-wagging hypocrite pussy cowards that fear it's supposed "power".

It is a witchhunt, pure and simple.

I believe the lawsuit is a complete fabrication or the woman would have come forward when she was fired, not years later.

You don't hear black stars getting drug through the mud for saying cracka or honkey and anyone that thinks there aren't a disproportionate amount of them that throw slurs around left and right is nuts.

This.

Its absolutely ridiculous and just another example of how people with common sense have ceded the control over to the ignorant masses.

But...Paula missed a golden opportunity and has embarrassed herself with all these damn apologies. She should've just told the truth....

"I regret having used that word 25 years ago but even today I'm reminded of how much a pain in the arse that ni**er can be"

Or better yet:

"Damn right I said it. I had to be a mean bitch to get a good days work out of that bunch of ni**ers"

If you're getting fired might as well leave a mark. She can still cook some badass food and they'll never take that away from her
