If Kindley and Cleveland stay (which I think they will)

LT- Cade Mays
LG- Solomon Kindley (if he stays)
C- Trey Hill
RG- Ben Cleveland
RT- Jamaree Salyer

If they leave:

LT- Cade Mays
LG- Justin Shaffer
C- Clay Webb?
RG- Trey Hill
RT- Jamaree Salyer

Will be a step down but should still be a solid unit. I’m guessing we give up more than 3 sacks next year though...

It is still a solid line.

Not the same depth that we have had the past 2 seasons (could we have had a more trying 2 seasons on the OL with injuries. We were down to 4th string RG in 2018 and got down to 3rd string at both guard spots this season).

Hopefully one of the freshman like Broderick Jones or Van Pran will be ready to contribute.

We also have Xavier Truss, Owen Condon, and Warren Ericson.

Also Warren McClendon

But it does tend to show how fragile an OLine can be and how quickly it can be decimated.

Wilson will stay and move to LT. Will play LT vs Baylor. Cade could move to RT, but think he will stick with LG and that’s his ceiling for NFL. With IW, CM and TH on the center to left, we are strong

He tweeted he was leaving an hour ago. He did not say if he was playing in the bowl game.

Wilson is leaving.

Hope Broderick Jones is paying attention. We need an athletic LT in this class to bookend with Ratledge.

I would never use the phrase “addition by subtraction” in this case because Thomas and Wilson were both so productive and talented. I guess I’m just optimistic that a new mix and shuffle could turn out positive

I just remembered that we were down to our 3rd string center against Mizzou.

We got down to our third string at all interior line positions in 2019.

This class only has 1 prospective interior lineman (van pran).
Last year, we only had 1 interior lineman (webb). We are keeping the quality up. But we are awfully thin at a position that gets beat up every play (2018, we got down to our 4th string RG for the SECCG).

I know Austin Blaske has good film as an interior lineman pulling and sealing alleys. What do we know about the other OTs from this year and last?

That's not currently Georgia football. Show me a play where we pulled a guard and I'll change my avatar to a Florida Gator.

ETA: You won't find one, but if you happen to stumble upon one I'm just going to welch in advance.

I thought people wanted us to run power to the outside more? It is a lot tougher when our splits are so tight and the guards are 330 pounds.

They're not all that size. Webb is about 300. Salyer is 315.

Keep in mind the reason these guys were so highly recruited is they're big and they can move well for their size. Varying the blocking schemes only makes it easier for the line to open up holes, and even an elite guy could sometimes use some help scheme wise.

I'd really love to see something other than inside/outside zone in the run game next season.

I'm not arguing your point (those weren't our players this season). But we had Solomon kindley at 330, ben cleveland at 335, and trey hill at 330. Combine the tight splits and lack of push at center, and it's tough for those big boys to move around Hill's massive caboose.

Our scheme fit our personnel on the line. But when we needed variety, we didn't have it. And we lacked in the perimeter run game because of it.

I love the guy. And I am excited to see what he offers as an upperclassman. That is a big difference in my opinion.

But he wasnt consistent off the snap. The kid is all tree trunks. But he'd either get submarined or lose the low man battle.

Chill is right, this isn't UGA football. But like you I hope with Luke and a new cast of characters on the OL it quickly becomes part of it again. I played DE/ OLB in high school, having dudes bigger than you running down hill and kicking your arse for 2 hours is no fun.

Two guys I’m curious about that have not been mentioned are Condon and Ericson.

Yeah I was disappointed Georgia went away from gap scheme plays last year.

No college team would ever get better by losing Andrew Thomas. This offensive line was big and heavy but Thomas is the one guy who had the frame to carry his weight well. Kindley and Hill need to drop some significant weight, IMO. They both looked heavy and slow. Thomas looked light on his feet while toying with college pass rushers like a grown man against Pop Warner players. He's going to make some NFL team (Redskins?) really, really happy for the next 15 years if he stays healthy.
