Waffle House does so much business in the South that the impact of hurricanes on Waffle House service is actually an informal measure of hurricane intensity.

Got some Yankee States up in this map. I don't like that.

I did a huge project on Waffle House, Chick fil-a, and The Varsity my senior year of undergrad. WaHo is a pretty ingenious little concept and model when it comes down to it.

For the record, the Atlanta-based Waffle House costs less and tastes better than California's IHOP. Also, waffles are better than pancakes. Point is, I'm jealous.

IHop is terrible. Waffle house has the awesome open kitchen that is open every minute of every day. I went to the University of Georgia in Athens. There was a snow storm that shut down the entire city and postponed classes for a week. The only two places open the morning after the storm; Waffle house and the liquor store across the street from my house.

Waffle House is heaven on earth at 3:00a.m....

frick IHOP, the food & service sucks. I'd rather have a snaggletoothed Waffle House waitress pouring me coffee & calling me hon' any time...

Screw Waffle House...their founder is a huge GT supporter and his son (CEO) is a GT grad...hence the color scheme...they've given millions to the nerds.

It's not a true WaHo experience unless your waitress is a snaggle tooth and the cook is ashing his cig in your eggs.

Huddle House was started in GA too, for what it's worth. I've never eaten at one.

I stopped at the one in Tucson on my way out here. That was a bittersweet meal.

What are you talking about? He had a son who was big brother to my buddy at uga. Was an ato

I think the old man that started Waffle House sent his son to Georgia Tech and then to Harvard Business... used to say Waffle was founded in the basement of ATO

Huh? WTF are you talking about? The co-founder Joe Rodgers Sr was not a GT grad but a huge fan and supporter...his son Joe Rodgers Jr was a GT grad '68 (I believe) He is the current CEO and on just about every major board at GT...

WAHO sent some people to my Service Operations Management class this past semester for a guest lecture and I agree their business model is quite interesting. The fact that they are able to successfully saturate markets without cannibalizing the sales of their other locations is what intrigued me the most.

Other random WAHO facts

1. The Chick-Fila milkshake was actually developed by WAHO and they chose not to add it to the menu after they discovered that it was negatively affecting the customer turnover rate during the test phase

2. They are a very integrated firm. For instance they actually own the construction company that is used to build new WAHO locations

3. WAHO operates entirely debt free and still are able to continuously expand.

Waffle House also used to sell Chick fila chicken biscuits for a while before Chcik fila moved out of malls.

Huddle House is alright. Pretty much your typical knock-off (which is odd because Huddle House came around maybe 10years after WaHo started and long before Waffle House became the cultural icon it is now).

I believe the closest Waffle House to a SEC campus is USC's! Although, we probably have the closest IHOP as well.

The Waffle House on Clayton St. is hardly 1/10th of a mile from campus, so I'm assuming Carolina would have to have one on campus.

(FWIW Ga State has one on campus which is awesome)
