I don't think any of that happened.
Edit: We've had 30 or so COVID-19 patients so far. Only one died and he would've died before April without COVID-19. That seems like good news.

I used to listen to Art Bell a long time ago for entertainment purposes, before the internet existed. And I dabbled in Alex Jones until he just fell off the crazy cliff a few years after 9/11.

As much as I dislike Trump for a variety of reasons having nothing to do with this pandemic, I do think there's a massive difference in the hype/induced panic level over COVID19 than there was for H1N1. It's non-stop news coverage, which definitely wasn't the case during H1N1.
But...there may be some legitimate reasons for this that have nothing to do with conspiracies or politics. COVID19 is fundamentally different than H1N1 in some bad ways. For one thing, it has a longer period of pre-symptom infection, so people don't know they have it for a lot longer (more unknowing transmission). Second, even though H1N1 was a new strain, it was still a form of influenza and we were at a better place with it. There were some reasonably useful antiviral treatments. Vaccine research began in April 2009 and a vaccine was approved in December 2009 - only 8 months.
Ultimately, there were 12,000 US deaths and close to 300,000 worldwide, but the infection fatality rate for H1N1 was only 0.02 percent.
COVID19, even conservatively, is going to be WAY more deadly as far as kill rate, especially in elderly.
So the much greater media coverage may not all be sensationalism. Some of it may be warranted by the risks.

But it was obvious that there is a collective voice when the Sri Lanka bombings occurred and the media narrative was about attacking Easter worshippers. Ummm. What? When in history have Christian's been named as Easter worshippers? Every media site had the same nomenclature. Duh. In truth, we can state that The Right have treated Trump like a messiah. Even those in his party who think he's corrupt or a narcissist must whisper their views privately because of the absolute dominion he has over his base.
Trump has cultivated a cult following and his propaganda machine (in the form of Fox and various other platforms) simply enables him. Some of these groups are clearly doing it to curry favor; the red hats at the rallies maybe more out of delusional devotion.
But to suggest that Obama was somehow more protected from criticism is absurd. Trump has said and done things that go WAY beyond the norms of what any President - D or R - would have dared. Yet we hear nothing from the Right but excuses or deflections.
All of this said, I think the criticisms of the administration's COVID19 response are mostly b.s. Almost all public health responses can be armchair quarterbacked.

Think a lot of those deaths came out afterwards too. But I think one massive difference is we were able to see what this did to China, Korea, and Italy before it actually hit the US hard. That helped us prepare a little bit more than we would have been able to.

There's more info here but it's consistent. H1N1 was pretty weak as far as mortality goes.

Ok, so I was right the first time. You feel the the response to the Virus is a vast, global Conspiracy, lead by the 5 heads of the liberal media. I’m sorry...I call bullshite on that. I live in the heart of red state SC and it’s a freaking ghost town. My office had 10% of the normal people and the highway traffic was nonexistent.
The ones who DGAS about this virus are the poorer neighborhoods and the college kids.
Not conservative strong holds.
This whole article is another push at “us vs them” which sadly is all the Democrats stand for now.
