WALB News - Covid -19 is creeping around Albany.I didn't think it would get here this soon. I wear surgical gloves out and I only go out for groceries during off hours.

The governor has quarantined the city of New Rochelle. No one in or out. I'm sending a CARE package to Rob and Laura Petry.

Anybody see what just happen with Rudy Gobert? Hes a player for the Utah Jazz...gave interview to press ROW before game about Corona impacts...jokingly touches every reporters' recorder/microphone as he leaves the interview...fast forward a couple hours...he tests positive for corona...NBA suspends season.. it was like a Curb episode.

It's already been there for a month.
Let's talk about Tom Hanks in Australia.
If Tom Hanks can catch it in Australia, it's already everywhere.
It has been everywhere since January.

Guess it’s not ‘just the flu’ .
It is like the flu.
It is like the flu without a vaccine
An average year, the flu kills half a million people. And that is with us chasing vaccines on an annual basis.

How can you be so ignorant? Go look up percentages of people that have died from this, and then die from the flu.

The virus has several offsetting strands that create other illnesses. This strand can be the “common flu” for younger people vs extreme Bronchial diseases resulting in deaths to the elderly. It’s essentially spider man bite to the Flu...

You are comparing the Corona virus to a flu which attacks a heavily vaccinated population.
You dont see the difference?

And... btw... it’s not “completely illogical” to suggest our infrastructure (hospital systems) are in danger of running out space/help, denying symptom, related, medicines that are critical in recovery efforts.

The common flu kills a shitload of young people in the world.
About 500,000 people a year die of the flu.
That fact seems to be lost on many.

The flu has been around forever. We already know everything about the flu and we have a vaccine. The mortality rate of the flu is about .1%. This so far, has a mortality rate of 2% and if you go by WHO stats so far, it's actually 3.6% so far. If our hospitals and healthcare system are overrun as it is in Italy, that mortality rate will rise significantly. We also don't have a vaccine for this and likely won't for 9-12 months at the earliest.

Actually that is completely illogical.
CV has been here for at least a month..
Spreading like wildfire...
Not enough tests...
It's everywhere...
This is big...
Trump failed...
We are so fricked...
We must cancel everything...
But hospitals still aren't overwhelmed.
Hospitals aren't even close to being overwhelmed. Where are you getting this bullshite?
How do you square that? Educate me. I'm ready to learn.

We deal with the flu every year.
But we know very little about it.
Every year, we are attacked with new and different strands.
Every year, vaccines have varying effectiveness in preventing and shortening the flu.
About 8000 americans die of the flu each year. With all we know. With all the vaccines. 8000 people still die each year. We obviously dont know enough.
500000 people around the world die of the flu each year. You seriously think we have the flu under control?
