Was rear-ended a month ago. Shoulder needs to be surgically repaired. Will spend 6 weeks in a sling and out of work up to 3 months. Not looking to break the bank but demand a fair settlement. Insurance made an offer that wont even cover my medical bills.

I work for a law firm that handles PI in Athens. I could arrange for you to speak with one of our attorneys if you'd like.

Eldrewo - Accident happened in Lula and I live in Cleveland. That going to make a difference to the attorneys at your firm?

Youve presented doctors bills and they didn't offer to cover them? Or they haven't come on board with your surgery yet?

Most local attorneys will travel for this case. But obviously, attorneys will want to up the demands to get their cut.

I've had friends with success from Van Sant Law firm in Cumming and Ron Dobelstein in Roswel.

I don't think you will go wrong with any ambulance chasing attorney, though. It seems fairly open and shut (or maybe like Progressive doesn't know that you are about to have surgery)

Figure out what you want and then increase that by 30%. Be able to justify this amount.

Tell the adjuster that you want the amount you determined and that if you don't get it you'll get an attorney. Hopefully his counter will be close to what you want.

If not then get a lawyer and see what happens.

No that won't make a difference. Is there a way to PM on here? I can get someone to call you on Monday to discuss

Eldrewo - Will be working Monday-Saturday. 6 am -530pm. Work in a factory, single income family, so I can't really miss work. Playing out the string until surgery on Aug 18 I can sort of use the arm as long as I'm willing to hurt for it. Lol. I will spend 6 weeks in a sling and miss 6 weeks to 3 months work with only short term disability which pays 50% of my base wages. I work a significant amount of overtime so this will be a serious problem while waiting for settlement. I'm not sure about PM here but the email I have on file here isn't correct anymore. Not sure how the site feels about slinging personal info out but, my current email is dawg_holliday33@yahoo.com

Meansonny - I got an initial claims adjuster who said the absolute best she could do was 8k for care already received and 2500.00 for "time and inconvenience". Said she has to transfer me to another department who will make their offer once my treatment is completed. I am already well beyond the 8k...ER visit the day of the accident and subsequent trip to orthopedist for MRI has eaten that up and then some. The surgery will be 35k and I pay 10% out of pocket up front. I'm more than willing to let them make an offer, I just kinda wanted to talk to someone to get a gauge of what a fair settlement for a similar injury/missed work scenario.

Mike is a big Georgia guy. He was on the field when Auburn turned the hoses on the Georgia fans. You can see him at the very end of the broadcast.

Zack is a great choice. Progressive isn't usually a reasonable insurance company and will generally refuse to pay any real amount of money until into litigation.

I am a recovering personal injury attorney. Now I sue debt collectors.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

It seems dumb on their part not to pay every medical bill to date while you are not lawyered up (all that does is force you to get a lawyer and push for litigation with a pro). Give em hell

The only insurance companies I've seen settle pre-suit at a reasonable price are Auto Owners, USAA, and ALFA.

And that's really ridiculous. All I really want is my medical bills paid in full and to be fully compensated for the time I'll miss work. However, if they don't come with a reasonable settlement offer, I will try to ring the register on them.
